Get off…

I would appreciate some advice on how to get a few items off as I do a bottom end tear down on my 79.

I’m fairly well advanced in the tear down but I’m not able to remove the following:

- primary drive train (the big cog under the clutch basket). I’ve removed all the washers but the damn thing won’t come out even with a good pull.

- the oil pump - all bolts removed but it just seems ‘stuck’ on

- the oil pan - same issue as above with all bolts removed but it just doesn’t want to budge

This is my first tear down and I don’t want to damage anything so I may be being overly cautious so please let me know the best ways of encouraging these parts loose.

Tap with rubber mallet... if you're talking about the gear on the outer housing it is riveted on.

Thanks, it’s the part attached to the part that is riveted on. I think mallet is the way to go!!

Gentle taps...its probably got some sort of rtv holding it.

Sorted, all removed. Now just a very stubborn rotor to go before being able to split the case.

Thanks, I ended up buying one of the rotor pullers. That did the job although I really had to hit it hard before it decided to pop off. Cheers
