CB750 Police

I was lucky enough to score one from a bloke in Florida a few years ago.
Here is what they look like...127mm long, 37mm wide, 110mm between screws.
No part numbers or markings unfortunately.

Thanks again, I do have one intact and they are the same both sides, so I could use it as a pattern.
 
You look like you have an interest in these as well, do you own any?
I have 2 actually. One almost finished complete rebuild ground up. Did about 85000ks on it before a car did a u-bolt in front of me with his left indicator on. Just doing new exhaust headers now and it'll be basically new. The other I will do next, it's complete but needs rebuilding as the previous owner stripped the cam chain adjuster bolt and cosmetically it's pretty bad.
I also just finished a 1984 CBX750P ex NSW police bike. I really liked CHiPs as a kid...

Does anyone put lights, and sirens back on, even just for appearance? I see that there may be aftermarket bits around?

That is impressive, you have put some work in to it. I saw the lights on CMSNL and they are not cheap. I’m looking at more of a tidy up rebuild, the frame paint was poor, as many of them seem to be, so getting that out and powder coated is the first step. I’ll see how fussy I get after that. If you find a supplier for front caliper kits let me know.

Hi John, the fairings were made by SHOEI. I think the panniers were too, but not sure. Very hard to find good examples.
Hi, in regards to the fairings, would you know where one could get the rubbers that sit under the indicator lenses? Couldn’t find them anywhere? Mine are all cracked..
Also pls, what about the pannier rubber seals, CMS hasn’t had these available over the last couple of years..

Sorry mate, been away and busy...The part number for the indicator rubbers is CGC41916 SAE D75, the lenses are CGC41915.

auf Lager means "in stock"
You'll have to make the pannier rubbers yourself.

In regards to the indicator rubbers, thanks for the part numbers and site. Greatly appreciated. In the mean time, I've had someone 3D print a couple for me.
Another interesting thing about the panniers which I'm not too sure about....
All the photos of police bikes I've seen (mainly ones that originated from SA) have their paneers opening towards the front. Even when I bought mine, it was like that. And that is how they are set on your CB750PX too.
However, if I look at the schematics on the cmsnl website, it looks like they should be opening towards the rear, ie right and left panniers should be switched. https://www.cmsnl.com/products/refl-rreflex_77514425840/

All the K versions I've seen have been opening toward the front, which works well as the rear crash bar supports it in the open position. That's how they were when I first bought my CB750KP. I guess I just got used to it really.
I've seen CBX versions going both ways. They fit either way too. Personally, I prefer the forward opening ones because it seems to suit the flow of the bike better, and doesn't leave the lid resting entirely on the hinge. Most pictures of the Japanese and asian versions are the reverse. Each to their own I guess!

Third pic is for a CBX750P but you might find it helpful for all the police stuff..

Try these. They're off the 1984 CBX750P but as far as I can tell, there's little difference to the CB750P except for where everything goes and wire lengths etc.
I had them blown up to A1 size. The Spanish one is clearer to see connections, the English one for translating...

Nice CBX by the way.
The schematics still aren't overly clear, but I will see what I can get out of them, The wiring on the bike doesn't match some of what I have on other drawings, so I am hoping that Hugh can come up with a higher resolution version of the CB750P ones.
I was enjoying working on this until it came to reinstalling the wiring, now its a bit of a slog, but learning plenty. Having trouble getting the starter working consistently, and it was fine before I pulled it to bits.

Thanks Hugh, I can read that ok, For a basic bike, there is a lot of wiring.
This explains why there are so many wires behind the headlight, it needs more room in there.
Just trying to work out the relationship between the neutral switch, light and clutch switch when it comes to getting it started.
