CB750 Police

I can't see a neutral switch in the P schematics, am I missing something? There is something called a changing switch, so not sure what it is for.

Hi John,
don't forget mate that the CBX750P model was probably 84 onwards. I only included that as it might help with police lights, siren etc.
If you are checking your starter motor operation, I'd go with the CB750K chart.

Nearly done, ground up rebuild, everything cleaned or painted, had a lot of surface corrosion.
Question: what causes poor spark, bad earth? Won’t fire on recommended DR8ES-L, but will with colder DPR7EA-9?
Does this model have a park light, it has the bulb and wires, but can’t see in any schematic?

Looking Good John!
Really like those 4 in 4. I still haven't managed to find a set.
Not too sure about the bad earth, but one place I found I didn't have good continuity while assembling mine was where the negative battery terminal lead ends in an eyelet, RHS upper rear engine mounting bolt. Maybe worth checking?
Mine has the park light too.

Odd thing about the park light is, I can’t find any reference in the schematics, and can’t find any stray wires, other than police gear ones either.

Hey John,
I think mine was originally from South Australia too. And I think that it was South Australia police that had put those fairings on as all the CB750P bikes from SA have those fairings.
In regards to the box assemblies on the side, yours are exactly like mine. I found on CMS that they are from this model...
https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cbx750p...odel18919/partslist/FOP0601.html#.ZFyqCBFBxD-which was the next Honda model that was around for police.
My guess is SA police either ordered them with those boxes from the start, or simply upgraded to newer ones whenever they swapped broken boxes. But while researching and looking for photos on the net I have seen our same side boxes on all CB750P models originating from SA.
I found this pic, this guy has actually got a collection of them! ..

Hugh,
Trying to get a gauge on where the market is at with these bikes, I am thinking of advertising mine now that it is back together, but need a range, any thoughts?
John

Hugh,
Have you ever seen an image of these with the Shoei fairings and the front flashing lights fitted? If they are fitted where they are from factory on the top of the side bar, the fairing hits them when the bike is on full lock.

John

I have 2 actually. One almost finished complete rebuild ground up. Did about 85000ks on it before a car did a u-bolt in front of me with his left indicator on. Just doing new exhaust headers now and it'll be basically new. The other I will do next, it's complete but needs rebuilding as the previous owner stripped the cam chain adjuster bolt and cosmetically it's pretty bad.
I also just finished a 1984 CBX750P ex NSW police bike. I really liked CHiPs as a kid...
Do you have any images of the South Australian version with the Shoei fairing and the lights fitted? If the front police lights are fitted on the top of the side bar as they are ex-factory they foul on the faring when it is at full lock.

Thanks,
from those images you wouldn't think it would be a problem, but I can't see how they will fit, but I'll experiment a bit more. The black circles below the bar that appear to be on both sides, (as they are on the left side in the second image), are they sirens as they don't appear in any parts images, and I thought the loud hailer doubled as a siren?
