So after few years of searching the famous 1979 Sankei 2043, I've exahusted my search for the infamous Sankei 2043. This is the original 1979 4-4 and I believe were the only year that had the short reverse cone endings on the K and LTD, at least for the north american market. After that, I believe it changed to Sankei 2069, this one 4-4 has the straight endings.
Question, the Nighthawk CB750SC 1982 also came with the Sankei 2069, would this fit the 1979 K model? I'm in the understanding that the 1980, '81 K and C model as well had these. So, anyone has experience mounting the Sankei 2069 straight forward onto a 1979 K model?
Please also note that the brakets change too. The 2043 have a "Z" type bracket while the 2069 are an "L" shape bracket. I noticed too that on the frame of the Nighthawk '82, the mouting point seem to be more forward rather than backwards with that triangle lip of the K, C and F models.
I'm about to purchase at very high price one full set of the 2069's in very neat shape, but I don't want to fiddle around and try to make them fit if doesn't.

Hi hmcy,

I’m in the same situation. My 79 750k has a rusted out HM425 exhaust and just got lucky finding a cheap and descente shape HM425A from a 82 Nighthawk.
I measured the headers tips edge to the back bracket bolt hole and they are exactly the same length. So, looks like it will fit. The only think that worries is that the 79 lower pipe has a recessed area (close to the rear axel nut) and the 82 doesn’t. I don’t have the bike here to fit try.
Did you end up using the HM425A from the 82 in your 79K? How was the fit?
Thanks!

I actually found a 1981 Custom that has the Sankei 2069 on them, if that bike has them mounted It would fit on my '79, I noticed as well the "notch" on the bottom where the kick stand lands, it seems to be the same. If your's doesn't have that notch, then for sure the stand will hit it... send some pics!

I found a 1982 Custom and the exhaust fit my '79 10th Anniversary edition perfectly. It took a lot of looking to find a set in reasonable condition.
