Where should I begin restoration project

I am way over my head trying to restore a 1981 cb750. It’s been rotting away in a field for 20 years and needs a lot of love any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A compression check would be a good place to start if you can get power to the starter and get it to crank over. Does it have oil in it? Water in the oil?
