Choke not engaging

After taking my 1978 cb750k carbs apart for a rebuild, taking plenty of pictures and videos, I put it all back together and now my choke is not engaging to close the butterfly valves. I did it just as I took videos of, so I know the springs are in the right position. The cable is moving and pulling the little mechanism up, but it is not affecting the valves at all. Just scratching me head. Has anyone else had this issue?

Try taking the carbs off the bike and loosening the screws that mount the carb bodies to the rails and re-aligning the carb bodies. I think the Hayne's manual used to advise not separating the carb bodies for just this reason.

I am having the same problem and it is the little choke spring that is causing this. Any one has a a clear video or detailed instructions how to put it back accordingly. Apparently it is the way how to load and attach the spring where it should be in its original place. A picture could tell a thousand words if it shows both ends of the spring.
Your help is appreciated !

These later PD carbs have no direct connection between the choke cable and the choke plates, the choke plates are spring driven. Any binding will cause the plates to "hang" since these springs are not very strong. Remove the carb rack from the bike, set the choke plates to fully closed, loosen the two choke plate screws on each carb and retighten. Do as many times as necessary to eliminate any binding. Check for smooth operation before reinstalling the rack on the bike.
