In addition to that, I would think that a bad or weak one could potentially shorten the life of the points. I'm going to put in a new set of points I bought from David Silver Spares, and at $21 apiece, I don't want to be wear these out early. What say you ?

Testing points and condensers is covered in your manual. If you don't have a manual, here is a link you should look at: http://manuals.sohc4.net/cb750k/

For what it's worth, points and condensers should last MANY miles. Daily use, for a few years. Crappy after-market parts will wear out fast, but not genuine Honda parts. David Silver Spares has a good reputation for selling quality parts.

Look at them while running at night. Many times if you see sparks occuring as the points seperate its a bad condenser. Dont assume new aftermarket parts are good. I've had chinese points brand new that were bad. Or go with a Dyna electronic ignition. One of the best upgrades I did.
