In the book I have , it says that both 1 and 4 cylinder intake and exhaust cam lobes are supposed to be pointed to the spark plug!
This when removing cam shafts.
But when it is being installed, the cams. It says only number 1 cylinder cam lobes(intake and exhaust) are supposed to be pointed to the spark plug.
Now if take the first part to correct I have a very screwed up engine. But if I follow the second part, it should be running right?

the book says to make sure cylinder number 1 OR cylinder 4 intake and exhaust camshaft lobes face the sparkplug. you will never get both cylinders to have the camshaft lobes face the spark plug at the same time, otherwise both cylinders would be firing at the same time. if you do either, this ensure that the valves are timed properly to the pistons, however it dictates whichever cylinder you are setting up on, will be on the intake stroke and which one will be on the exhaust stroke. it will not hurt your engine to set up on either.
