Hey guys just scored a bobber basket case with a Honda cb 750 engine, looks 70s as far as I can tell but I've never done a basket case before? Any recommendations on places to start looking for assembly or just general Honda engine maintenance tips?
Yea bro you were right. I went at it with turpentime and a brillow pad and I almost destroyed the number. So I went with a few shop towels and brake cleaner to get started at least cleaning up the valve cover. Tomorrow or the next day I'll take the cam and rocker arms off and lightly clean those. I'm debating if I should spend the money and get the top end (once disassembled) sent out for vaporblasting.Location #2, the VIN is stamped into the metal on the left side of the neck. The only way to remove that would be with a grinder. That would be really bad. Hopefully it's there.
Thank you for the knowledge. This is my first "big" job on a bike, I only am taking it on because its my dream bike and I'm mechanically inclined, but I come from a hot rodder family. I only sort of know what I'm doing and I can't fuck it up or I'll lose a nut lmao.Keep the rockers in the correct spots as they are worn to that specific cam lobe.
