Was working on a Harley the other day and they suggest putting the timing mark on the full advance tic and to turn the full advance until your test light lights up. Was watching Common Motor Collective and for the older points setup he did the same. Set at full advance and set the timing plate where the full advance stops. Done a little research on this and you can pretty much do this with any setup. So here we are.
When I setup static timing on the S tic then roll over to the fully advance tics, roll the advance over to the pickups it rolls way past.
Do the advance weights fully extend to it's stops during normal operation or does it not reach it's stops? I would have to set the timing at almost TDC for the advance to stop on the pickups at full stop. IDK maybe someone has some insight on this or how to set the timing for full advance.
Thanks.
