I don't know how true it is, but I've heard bikes with new rings can exhibit low compression before being broken in.

Robert, what is your pilot jet number? If you're using stock jets with an 836cc displacement you might very well need to bump up one if not two sizes. And I know you said you have a stock airbox, but I have to ask, is it a stock filter?

Yes stock filter brett

You can normally be fine with stock pilot jet with only a 836 kit.
