I am finished summer projects now, so can get my fingers dirty. My 1981 CB750K, purchased this summer for $1500 CDN. I am no mechanic so this will be a project. Aftermarket throttle handle assembly stiff as heck and does not re-wind to idle ...just stays where it is left unless forced back to idle position. Looks like the return cable housing on the throttle handle assembly is stripped and the cable does not screw into the handle any more. I think that is causing a lot of friction which prevents the return spring on the carb from winding the throttle back to idle position. Do I need to remove the carbs to get that cable off and a new one back on? Also.. likely means a new throttle assembly on the handle bar.
Good news I found my old DIY fix manual from a 1980 I owned many years ago. Good for 1979-1982 models.
