Help…steering stem

hi friends, i am rebuilding my 74 cb750k and i would like to know which cb750 steering stems would fit perfectly without any mods. This is the picture of my current steering stem which was welded

I guess my first question would be why was it welded? I recently did maintenance on my k5, cleaning everything up and lots of grease. Your stem looks exactly like mine with the exception of the welding.
