K6 Front Brakes Issue

I am having a hell of a time in getting the front brake on my K6 set up correctly. Rebuilt the caliper, new seal, phenolic piston, and pads. When I tighten the two bolts that attached the two parts of the caliper together, the wheel won't turn. It locks up. I have followed the factory procedure for adjusting it to no avail. Any suggestions?

Did you push the piston back in the caliper as far as would go before trying to join the 2 halves?

Yes, the piston was recessed. What I did today is to remove 0.030" off each pad on a milling machine. Problem solved. Thank you all for your suggestions and help. Very much appreciated.
