    Custom seat

Thanks, I managed to pick up a Motad Neta 4 into 1 from eBay for less than £80. It’s from the 80’s and I think it was from a CB750/900 as an aftermarket part. It’s a bit functional but at some point I’ll want to chop it as it has a brushed steel end can which isn’t great looking!!

    Custom seat

Hi all, I heading towards the end of my first ever build (cafe racer from a 79 750 Limited Edition). It’s been a huge learning curve as I had zero mechanical skills/experience/tools a year ago. Anyway, my fantastic wife has just made a custom seat for the bike. We bought a £20 eBay leather...

GSXR front end swap - steering stop solution

Nice one. Glad I could help.

    Carb overflow

I had that. Turned out the previous owner had put it eBay type floats (fully plastic, not adjustable). I replaced them with adjustable (plastic and metal) OEM substitutes from David Silver spares and that sorted it. That was on a 79.

GSXR front end swap - steering stop solution

Hi all, In case this is going to be useful for anybody I wanted to post my fairly low cost solution to replacing the steering stops on a GSXR 750, 2007 front end swap on a 1979 CB750 DOHC. Having already bought and fitted the Cognito Moto stem the main problem was that the CB and GSXR steering...

I still have the two sets of the original down pipes up until just after the join. You can see one in this image. They have cleaned up pretty good.

    Speedometer delete

Hi, is there a blanking plate or similar for the speedometer cable from the top of the rocker cover? I'm using a digital speedo rather than a mechanical one. Thanks, Andrew

    DOHC engine re build

Hi, I don’t have any contacts for you but if I can give some encouragement. I started a full engine rebuild (engine was fully seized) with zero mechanical knowledge and no workspace. I year on I have fully rebuilt the bottom and top end and the engine is now fully working. I also used a donor...

    1980 CB750 Runaway Idle

Thanks for the update. I think one of the rubber connectors between the air box and carb bank has worked its way party loose so it may just be that. I had it idling fine for a few mins then suddenly it ran away. I’ll dig into it. Cheers

    1980 CB750 Runaway Idle

Can I jump in and ask how much of a difference having incorrect valve clearances would cause? Can it actually lead to runaway idle?

    Floats on a ‘79

Some info from elsewhere. Cody at MotorcycleMD suggests the black/metal tabs are OEM for a 79 so it looks like someone has replaced them at some point with plastic brown/non adjustable ones. I’ve bought 4 new ones from CSMNL.

    Floats on a ‘79

Hi all, I’ve just rebuilt my carbs and I noticed that my 79 has brown plastic floats (and not adjustable) in the carbs. The manual and CSMNL etc suggest they should have black floats that are adjustable. My problem is that carb 1 and 2 are leaking fuel so I’m looking to adjust the floats which...

I managed to find a Motad 4 into 1 from Facebook Marketplace in the UK so fitted that today. I’m happy with the look and now need to finish working on the air box before firing her up.

Wow, thanks. Your description fits exactly what I was left with. That means I have it right. Many, many thanks. With the old gaskets, I did miss that at first but the last image includes when I’d dug them out. Thank you!!
