I can't see a neutral switch in the P schematics, am I missing something? There is something called a changing switch, so not sure what it is for.

Thanks Hugh, I can read that ok, For a basic bike, there is a lot of wiring. This explains why there are so many wires behind the headlight, it needs more room in there. Just trying to work out the relationship between the neutral switch, light and clutch switch when it comes to getting it started.

Thanks Brad, Nice CBX by the way. The schematics still aren't overly clear, but I will see what I can get out of them, The wiring on the bike doesn't match some of what I have on other drawings, so I am hoping that Hugh can come up with a higher resolution version of the CB750P ones. I was...

Thanks Hugh, I might have to see if you can send me a higher resolution version of the P, as I can’t read the colour codes. I can give you an email address if you can get another version? John

Has anyone got a wiring schematic for the CB750P or a KZ from 1979? I have one in an aftermarket manual, but not sure that it is correct for this model? Thanks

    Engine cover bolts required

I am in Australia and I haven't had any luck finding a supplier for ZINC or stainless M6 x 1.00p x 8mmAF bolts for all the engine covers on a DOHC, they need to range from 14mm to 70mm, but most bolt suppliers only have the industrial bolts with the 10mm head. Mine have been replaced with...

    Carburettor overhaul

I have a 1979 CB750P, or KZ. It had a new set of Keihin CR carbs and pods fitted a few years ago, that haven't done a lot of KM's, but I am thinking of converting back to the originals carbs and air box. The previous owner was told that the originals were not repairable, so the replacements were...

That is impressive, you have put some work in to it. I saw the lights on CMSNL and they are not cheap. I’m looking at more of a tidy up rebuild, the frame paint was poor, as many of them seem to be, so getting that out and powder coated is the first step. I’ll see how fussy I get after that. If...

Does anyone put lights, and sirens back on, even just for appearance? I see that there may be aftermarket bits around?

You look like you have an interest in these as well, do you own any?

Thanks again, I do have one intact and they are the same both sides, so I could use it as a pattern.

Thanks, amazed you would know that. I will need an orange reflector for mine, but maybe I could get it 3D printed, but haven’t had much to do with it?

Thanks Hugh, and sorry for all the questions. Do you nickel plate yourself, I’m thinking I might have to get a kit as I don’t have access to anyone locally? I have found a company called Jane Plating Kits who appear to have the gear.

Hugh, What do you do with the hardware, re-anodise it, chrome or replace? I can clean it up, but not sure how to keep the rust off. John

If you find anything more about lights on the fairing let me know, one of the reflectors that hides the mounting bolt has disintegrated. I might see if someone can 3D print them?

He’s keen, I think one is enough, wouldn’t mind what he’s got in the shed though. If he’s still collecting these he might have a lead on he indicator spacers or get someone to print some?

I’m wondering if the Aus supplier for the fairing, did the bags as well, as they are different to any of the online photos, maybe they specified a larger capacity, for whatever they put in them, and it would be interesting to know what that was?

Thanks Hugh, you are a wealth of information. I am in St George south west Qld, and I got this bike from Sydney, but it was originally from South Aus. The bloke that had it before spent a heap on it through a repair shop, and then put it under a tarp on the coast, hence the rust, the good thing...

Also, have you got any recommendations for a parts supplier, I need to fix a poor front brake caliper rebuild, (they left the rod boots out) so I’m looking for a kit, also probably gaskets at a later date when I need to strip the engine for paint and polish?

This is me at the moment, rideable, and good duco, but frame and some chrome has surface rust and needs a paint. Do you know what sprockets yours has, I’ve got a 45t with a 530 chain on the back, but need to check the front? I’ve been spoilt with highway revs by the one behind it, so I’m trying...

How did you go with your restoration, I have a 1979 model police spec that needs some cosmetic work, but is generally in good shape?

    Chain and sprockets

Thanks for that, that is very helpful, I’ll ride it a bit longer and enjoy the sound more, because it’s got that all over the boxer engine. The odd part is I started on a CB650C, but that was a long time ago.

    Brake parts

Can someone suggest where in Aus is the best to get front brake caliper kits for a 1979 CB750K? Very confusing information on line, as I would like to get pad pins, seals and banjo washers.

    Chain and sprockets

Thanks, I need to look at the front sprocket as well, but are you suggesting it might be 17 or 18? Here I am thinking it is reving too high, obviously too used to my 1200 GS boxer.

    Chain and sprockets

Can as someone please advise what the standard sprockets are for a 1979 CB750K, and revs at 100kph? I have a police spec with a 45t rear and a 530 chain.

    Sprockets and cruising revs

I have just purchased a 1979 CB750K police spec and would like to know what a standard machines revs are at 100kmph? Also what recommended sprockets are for cruising.
