just replaced stator guts, seems to be charging but stranded me just now

I have an 82 750k. I just replaced the magnetic feild coil and the rotor and it seemed to be charging but I rode for maybe 45 min yesterday and half an hour tonight and the bike wouldn't start after getting gas.The starter clicks once like it's not getting enough power and won't turn over. I have no lights and it didn't seem to like being push started. Any thoughts? It started fine with a fresh battery, I'm thinking a short somewhere?

Has all the earmark of still not charging. Do you even know what part is what? The field coil and rotor are the same part. Rotor most commonly the bad part there and almost guaranteed if it is a used one. Even new can have issues. Driven bad long enough they toast the regulator too.

Bike push starts all day long, you just have to have the muscle to do it. Recharge battery fully and see if it goes back to cranking.

They don't charge at idle and normal, the breakeven point is higher than that.
