Hey guy's my bike is about to go back together and these headlight nut/wires had some sort of rubber or calking around them, it may have just been to absorb headlight vibration from the headlight bracket? or do they need to be insulated and that is why the rubber was on there? I cleaned them all off cause it was old... any help appreciated.

No they shouldnt be insulated, the whole point to them is they are the ground for the stock turn signals. The stock turn signals only had a power wire and grounded through the body and that nut.

ok makes sense. I will be running these signals.. IMG_2756.jpg
should I detach the wires from the nuts then and disregard them? My friend will be helping me wire, he has more experience then I do lol. I am not educated on electricals...

Some had rubber washers or grommets to stop the signal weight from vibrating the headlight. It's a lever. The wire/nut then guarantees the ground.
