i want to change a fork seal and the bottom allen bolt just keeps spinning i can feel it with the brass rod, this must mean the damper rod is turning with it. any ideas how to stop this so i can get the allen bolt out

Put the spring back in and press on it. Should hold the rod in place well enough to tighten that bolt.

wahey i got the bolt out with this idea, copper pipe tapped in with hammer to stop the damper turning and it worked so well i might patent the idea. no damage done, i will use it again when tightening the bolt IF the damper wants to turn but i doubt it will , i think it only has a tendency to turn when undoing the bolt. RESULT, i don't know how i do it on a small budget :)
