Hello, I recently purchased a 1995 CB750 Nighthawk. The steering is very loose and mechanic said to tighten the head bearings. I've cracked the cap nut loose on the triple tree but the adjuster nut is extremely tight and will not budge. I've attached a picture.

Hi I just taken mine off on 750fn which I think is a bit like yours . If it is . Then you need to take off the nut washer then the headstock/handle bars up you then should see a large nut with some notches in it on mine there two undo the top one so you can tighten the lower one then tighten the top one once is firm not to tight then put the bits back on then do the nut back up .

Here is the lay out when I just taken mine apart from right to left .
I need to take off the last part (I think it comes off ) once I get the new bearings I'll work out if it needs to come off .

hi does anyone know if the alloy ring and gold looking tin needs to come off if yes how do you take it off . Cheers

that isn't an alloy ring it's a a hard steel ring, you won't get it off without making a mess, so just clean things up and re- grease , taper rollers are just a fashion those balls will be fine for what you need. .
