Hello and late happy new year to all.

Ladies and gentlemen, I apologize for my lack of etiquette. I wanted to wish all a very happy, productive, and safe new year. Unfortunately my time recently has been more about doctors and Social Security than motorcycles. Indeed the bike is in need of attention which I haven't been able to...

Hello guys, I'm new to this

Gasoline left sitting apparently turns to something called "varnish", I guess it looks like varnish because it turns a yellow color and dries to a hard coating. But it really stinks and not like gas anymore, you can tell by the odor if it has turned to varnish. And yes unfortunately if the gas...

Motorcycles In My Garage Past and Present, Show your stuff off too

Getting closer to a ride. It's configured, everything is pretty much where it's going to end up. But it needs to be taken apart again, frame cleaned up and painted, other parts painted and polished, wiring tightened up, and final do-dads adjusted and get a seat made cuz the one I made sucks...

Motorcycles In My Garage Past and Present, Show your stuff off too

I messed this post up and for some reason it got duplicated. Sorry I can't figure out how to delete this.

Anyone ever use title recovery services for bikes with no titles?

I know here in CA. the frame number AND the engine number have to match the original registration or you are out of luck. I'm not sure about PA. hope it works out for you.

    Noob questions! Sorry in advance!!

Will a 1976 seat bolt up to a 1977 bike?

I'm not expert but I don't think the frame design changed much until the DOHC versions came out. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong. But if you have the seat pan from your 77 then new foam and a recover would be the best route.

    Noob questions! Sorry in advance!!

This is a common problem, my bike came torn too. The thing to remember is to not pull UP on the new rubber to mount the tank, but rather roll it on from one end to the other. After the new rubber is mounted to the frame lightly pull it BACK and roll it on starting on one side only. If you try to...

Anyone ever use title recovery services for bikes with no titles?

This issue is very frustrating from state to state as they all seem to have different approaches and guidelines. Those of us that don't live in PA may not be able to supply any good info. I have had to pass on many bikes because the seller claims "lost title" and "comes with bill of sale only"...

    Solenoid switch to starter cable?

Thanks dirtdigger, I will keep that under consideration. I guess if it's easy enough to replace when it breaks I could live with it. My solenoid is now towards the rear of the bike and getting a switch to start cable 3 to 4 feet is pretty expensive.

    Weird wiring issue at solenoid

Unfortunately the only good way to solve wiring issues is to use a multimeter and test all of the paths for continuity and power. To test the solenoid you can disconnect it from the system and simply apply 12V directly from the battery and if it clicks it should be good. Otherwise it's fried and...

Got my hands on a cb750 Super Sport f1 -76

Hej Lars, Nice find. I can tell you my experiences. They are not very rare but can be desirable due to the rear disc and tank. Honda did make fewer Supersports than the standard models though. The Supersport is the only model these tanks came on and the only models with rear discs as far...

    Rust Removal

Thanks for the tip. Strange that molasses would clean rust. Another method is lemon juice or vinegar and baking soda. Make a soupy slurry out of it and rub it on or submerse and leave it for awhile. I can't say it's safe on paint though, I've never tried it for anything other than zinc plated parts.

    Solenoid switch to starter cable?

Gentlemen, hoping all are well and not flooded out or under hurricanes and riding. I'm very sorry for those of us that might have been affected recently by our crazy climate. It's sad to see the devastation some of our comrades may have gone through. I'm lucky I guess, we are just running...

    cb750sc Nighthawk carb airbox

Hi Ronxae and all, I had to figure out something for my bike too. It came with pods from the previous owner and was jetted for them. But they were crushed and caked with grunge and not worth keeping. Buying a stock box and replacing the jets was not what I wanted to do either, so I had to...

    New member and my bike

That is a nice little buddy, been well looked after or well brought back to life. Now it's your turn to keep it running for another 40 years. There is much help to be found on this site from many.

1982 DOHC Nighthawk electronic ignition on a SOHC?

Thanks dirtdigger, shows how valuable forums like this are. I had no idea Honda had repositioned the ignition to the left on the DOHC. And yes, way too much of a hassle to modify. I appreciate the advice.

1982 DOHC Nighthawk electronic ignition on a SOHC?

Good day gentlemen and gentlewomen, hope now the weather is better you are getting some rubber on the asphalt. I was wondering if any of you know if the electronic ignition from a DOHC will fit the SOHC? The plate the pickup coils are mounted to looks the same size as the plate our...

Just wanted to take a minute and say hello...

They do look mean and lean when bare. I've seen a few brat style that were very impressive. Wish we all could build a bike a year, and then keep them too.

    Home Zinc Electroplating

This is very cool. I tried the same process but with nickel, on the spokes for my 360, had limited results. You seem to have mastered this, maybe next time I will have to try zinc. Your project will look as good as new, best of luck on completion. Daren

    Alabama Voodoo (build Thread)

For now it's just a thought for a future build, I've seen others that used the GSXR parts and it seems like a good way to get dual discs up front (which parts are available for) while improving handling. Was wondering what your experiences were and how much modification was needed for the front...

Thanks, as time goes on I'm worried about aftermarket support for the SOHC's too. New listings for new and used parts on fleabay are few and far between.

Little electrical fire, looking for help

Is that the stator to regulator/rectifier plug? Looks like it. Yellow, red and white, white? Someone correct me, but can't a short in there allow excessive current? You need high current hitting a high resistance, like dirtdigger said, to create enough heat to cause a fire. But also if...

My build so far for your approval, comments, and advice.

It's been asked that I provide some images of the indicator light plate thing that I made. Sorry I can't get shots of the bottom, but I got some close ups which may help. In reality I think it is over engineered. There has to be a better way than mine. If you do decide to do this type of mod...

My build so far for your approval, comments, and advice.

Greyhound, the gauges have two casings, the inner case is sprayed a light blue. There is a gap between the inner case and the faceplate and much of the light reflects onto the faceplate from the edges, you really don't lose that much, I've been watching the super sport tanks...

Motorcycles In My Garage Past and Present, Show your stuff off too

Hey Travis, you know the 360 tach had the neutral and turn signal indicator lights. Having gotten rid of the tach and no use for the holes where the bar risers would have gone if I wasn't using clip ons, I figured I'd put the indicators in the holes. I got a couple of "12v LED DC POWER...
