Ladies and gentlemen, I apologize for my lack of etiquette. I wanted to wish all a very happy, productive, and safe
new year. Unfortunately my time recently has been more about doctors and Social Security than motorcycles.
Indeed the bike is in need of attention which I haven't been able to...
Gasoline left sitting apparently turns to something called "varnish", I guess it looks like varnish because it turns a yellow
color and dries to a hard coating. But it really stinks and not like gas anymore, you can tell by the odor if it has turned to varnish.
And yes unfortunately if the gas...
Getting closer to a ride.
It's configured, everything is pretty much where it's going to end up.
But it needs to be taken apart again, frame cleaned up and painted,
other parts painted and polished, wiring tightened up, and final do-dads
adjusted and get a seat made cuz the one I made sucks...
I know here in CA. the frame number AND the engine number have to match
the original registration or you are out of luck. I'm not sure about PA.
hope it works out for you.
I'm not expert but I don't think the frame design changed much until the DOHC
versions came out. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
But if you have the seat pan from your 77 then new foam and a recover would be the best route.
This is a common problem, my bike came torn too.
The thing to remember is to not pull UP on the new rubber to
mount the tank, but rather roll it on from one end to the other.
After the new rubber is mounted to the frame lightly pull it BACK and roll it on starting
on one side only. If you try to...
This issue is very frustrating from state to state as they all seem to have different approaches and guidelines.
Those of us that don't live in PA may not be able to supply any good info. I have had to pass on many bikes because the
seller claims "lost title" and "comes with bill of sale only"...
Thanks dirtdigger, I will keep that under consideration.
I guess if it's easy enough to replace when it breaks I could live with it.
My solenoid is now towards the rear of the bike and getting a switch to start cable
3 to 4 feet is pretty expensive.
Unfortunately the only good way to solve wiring issues is to use a multimeter and test all of the paths for continuity
and power. To test the solenoid you can disconnect it from the system and simply apply 12V directly from the battery
and if it clicks it should be good. Otherwise it's fried and...
Hej Lars,
Nice find. I can tell you my experiences. They are not very rare but can be desirable due to the rear disc
and tank. Honda did make fewer Supersports than the standard models though. The Supersport is the only model
these tanks came on and the only models with rear discs as far...
Thanks for the tip. Strange that molasses would clean rust.
Another method is lemon juice or vinegar and baking soda.
Make a soupy slurry out of it and rub it on or submerse and leave it
for awhile. I can't say it's safe on paint though, I've never tried it
for anything other than zinc plated parts.
Gentlemen,
hoping all are well and not flooded out or under hurricanes and riding.
I'm very sorry for those of us that might have been affected recently by
our crazy climate. It's sad to see the devastation some of our comrades may
have gone through. I'm lucky I guess, we are just running...
Hi Ronxae and all,
I had to figure out something for my bike too. It came with pods from the previous owner
and was jetted for them. But they were crushed and caked with grunge and not worth keeping.
Buying a stock box and replacing the jets was not what I wanted to do either, so I had to...
