CB750K 1980 broken speedo cable

Hi folks,

I would appreciate your guidance with a small problem I have with the speedo cable.

I left the bar lock on the front desk and forgot to take it off before trying to drive away, so the wheel went round, got blocked and tore out the speedo cable from the housing in the center of the wheel.

I'm told that the part broken is a small part that connects the cable into the housing (please see photo).

Perhaps I need the full housing unit... item 15 (44800 - 300 - 030) in the photo?
Or oerhaps a (costly?) new cable and housing unit?

Any ideas gratefully received, so thanks.

In your situation I would buy a used speedo drive and a new MotionPro speedo cable. The drive should be cleaned with solvent and regreased, the New MotionPro cable should also be greased. Honda Cables come pre-greased.

Thanks so much, advice followed and problem solved.

A new speedo drive was proving difficult to find, so I started with the simple first step, a new speedo cable (€37) hoping that the tooth inside the drive still has enough length to enter the groove at the cable extreme.
