    Tittle problems?

For some reason the mail wasn't being delivered for one roommate. Very weird. Still don't know why, but title was delivered to another address so it's worked out.

    Tittle problems?

A friend of mine bought a bike (kz750ltd, not CB). I rode it back for him (he's learning). The lady notorized a bill of sale, but only for ten dollars (paid $1600). I rode it back not knowing this, and not knowing the dude took the license plate off either. The guy claims he sent the title...

    too much?

You might need to add octane booster on hot days if you can't get higher than 91 where you live. Even not on a hot day, you'll probably be running a little rich to keep it from pinging (may not be enough anyway). I think technically 11.5:1 is as far as you want to go for 91 octane.

hard to get up on center stand

The real key is to put weight on the stand with your foot. I just step on it, pull on the handle bar, and put another hand somewhere farther back and give it one good rock backwards, no problem.

Differences between CB750 and CB900 (and maybe 1100)

I know a guy who swear his CB900 is a way bigger bike than the CB750. Every piece of information I've read on the internet doesn't claim its longer or taller at all. It appears to me all the DOHC bikes share basically everything. The key differences I could find is the cylinder size, or deck...

Engine is seized in my 73 cb750, What is going to need to be replaced?

I didn't mean at the crank bolt, sorry, I meant applying leverage through the transmission etc, isn't abnormal force.

Snooze. Seen cooler stuff on this forum than most of what he has made. The money on the other hand...

    WHICH TO BUY

This is an easy choice for me. Get the 79. It's clean, low miles, and has aftermarket exhaust. Plus you can add a kick starter to it (or entirely switch to one with a smaller battery) If you upgrade the carbs and ignition you probably won't ever run into a better running CB SOHC than your...

    1991 carbs on a 1980 engine

Do you ever look inside your crankcase filters for any white goo? (condensation and oil) That is one thing the stock one did nice, was goo would form up near the three way split. I wonder how the form you have works.

Normal amount of (engine) chain noise?

I'll check with the clutch but I think it still does it. It is probably normal, I think at this point. Given that I have 29k on the engine and it has been babied a lot by previous owners.

Normal amount of (engine) chain noise?

I recently had my two chain tensioners reset. The engine seemed pretty dead quiet, but a tiny bit of noise that is only audible if not in traffic, at idle, has creepd back in. Would that be normal or am I looking at pulling the engine to replace chains? The noise goes away with a tiny rev, but...

Engine is seized in my 73 cb750, What is going to need to be replaced?

Well it is meant to have a load of upwards of 850lbs at the crankshaft (500lb bike, 200lb rider, 150lb rider, any which numbers could be higher) so you probably won't break the bike. I don't know about your breaker bar. You can always put a long pipe on the breaker bar (like 8ft). If you do this...

Engine is seized in my 73 cb750, What is going to need to be replaced?

After pb blaster try to "push start" it, as in get it in 2nd or 3rd gear, run with clutch in, then release. Obivously for this scenerio you can leave it on the "off" position instead of "run". What'll the condition be like for the engine? I dunno. Taking it all the way apart, having it...

    1981 cb750 f problem

It sounds like fuel starvation. I get this at low speeds before I have to switch to reserve. Put some seafoam in with next tank of gas (1/3 bottle I hear). Repeat. Try draining fuel bowls on carbs to see if you have any kind of massive rust coming from the tank. It sounds like the vacuum for...

    Airbox vs Pods

I've been told that if you swap on some Mikuni carberators then pods work great. The stock carbs hate them on DOHC. You have to re-jet but it still won't work right. Ideal... Mikuni carbs, pods. Aftermarket exhaust (4 into 2, the 4 into 1 is better for race) Polish the heads intake (to gain...

    Oil in exhaust?

It may of had to do with the cylinder that wasn't firing right, for the pops. I've taken it on the freeway a little and the noise appears to be going away. The only mystery that possibly remains is the black tailpipe end.

    Oil in exhaust?

It always seems to me like the right exhaust has more of a popping sound past 3.5krpm. Really fast little pops. Having someone follow me is a good idea. I'm not sure the bike makes the sound while sitting still. I could only assume if something is different it may have something to do with...

    Oil in exhaust?

I'm watching to see if it does it much now that everything has been tuned up. The mechanic made it sound like it was.
  19. F

    Oil in exhaust?

No, the head wasn't removed. It pooled up till there was around 1oz or so sitting at the end of the pipe. I'm sure a little bit fell off the back.

    Oil in exhaust?

Hm the strangest part is still the perfect compression. Could compression change at higher RPM's?

    Oil in exhaust?

I just had a valve job done by a very competent man. He also synced the carbs and tuned them. Cam chains were tensioned properly (while engine is warm). He found that one spark plug wasn't seated right because of tiny debris, fixed that. But for some reason I still get some, and he isn't sure...

    Gas leak? Smell after riding?

The right tailpipe looks wet, sorta black. I have the recommended expensive spark plugs. It is stock jetting, near air filter, correctly set pilot screws, correct air pressure in tires, no fairing or saddle bags.

    Gas leak? Smell after riding?

Whenever I stop riding I can smell gas. I know my gas lid isn't perfectly tight because when my friend turned it upside down when I had it off, it came out the top. Is that normal? How would I fix it if it isn't? It doesn't explain the smell after riding, however. I don't see any wet spots...

    Carberator, new parts a must?

I drained some more gas, no rust. Put in fresh gas and it runs great now. I think the ignition on these old bikes is too weak for old gas, or gas with stabalize in it.

    Carberator, new parts a must?

Do you mean filled to the top with turp, or just it off gasing was enough to work it?

    Carberator, new parts a must?

Found the kits minus the air cut off thing (which I don't give a hoot about). I might be able to manage under $80 for this whole endevour. That puts me closer anyhow.

    Carberator, new parts a must?

So just open up the bottom and clean the jets then? The top is where the rubber is at, I assume.
  28. F

    Carberator, new parts a must?

There was rust in the carberators that I drained out. It sank to the bottom. It was however very fine. I suspect it was just surface rust inside the tank from the many years of existance. I suspect it has caused clogs in the carbs. Perhaps the stabalize is what made it come loose; maybe just it...

    Carberator, new parts a must?

Well unfortunately I don't have enough money ($200 for a kit now). I guess my bike is going to be sitting for a long time. My bike only has 28k on it but it is from 1981. Do you think the air cut valves are bad because of rust getting in? I'm going to add a fuel filter... I can't believe...

    Carberator, new parts a must?

Update... The crank case hoses that feed back up into the air box had white goo in them. I clearend it out with gas because water wouldn't do it. The Y piece was pretty bad. This must be from the water it had in the crankcase. I drained the bowels on all four carberaturos and a lot of red rust...
