Hey, everybody. Happy (a day early) 4th!
I have a 1981 cb750k with a stock set up; stock carbs, air box, and filter. The bike revs up to 10k in neutral but when riding it, the revs won't get past 5k. I do not have a vacuum leak at the carb stabilizers on the engine side and the rubber airbox boots are new (missing clamps on carbs 2 and 3 have been ordered). I don't think there is a vacuum leak in those because spraying carb cleaner around those airbox boots does not increase the idle. I don't know how old the air filter is, either.
I have read from amc around the forum these bikes are very sensitive to the vacuum across the carb. Where should I start looking? Replace the air filter, can those missing clamps become a vacuum leak under load but not in neutral, ignition timing, valves?
Thanks in advance.
