Got the gauges, working on the snyc. First problem is the needles of the gauges bounce so wildly through they are almost impossible to read. I used my iPhone in slo mo video mode to try and see what was going on. I'm making some progress I think. That nasty rattling at idle seems to be much more quiet. Here are two videos, first one is before I did anyting, the second is after some adjustment. I ran out of time but will continue more tomorrow. As always, all help appreciated!

what gauges are you using? Good sync gauges will have an adjustable damper that will slow down the needle movement.

Using $65 eBay gauges.....no damper on the gauges themselves......BUT they came with these little plastic valves.....NOW I KNOW what they are for! The instructions that came with the gauges never mentioned them! Back to work today. But even as of yesterday that nasty clanging noise at idle went away just as you predicted! Thanks as always

That should help out a bunch! You still want a little bit of needle movement. If they are dead steady you have them damped too much, you will get inaccurate readings when adjusting the carbs.

Carb sync finished. The damper" valves in the gauge hoses made the job A LOT EASIER! Saw then in the box that the gauges came in, had n o idea what they were for. The were were mentioned in the instructions in a very obtuse sort of way. The little buggers look like this:

Here is a video of the gauges working correctly:

AND here is one after everything was put back together.....

Your welcome lol  Its strange that there wasnt even a mention of them in the instructions but then again that is typical of ebay items. But as long as they work thats all that counts!

Well, I read the instructions AGAIN, and there was a mention of the "valves"........which I did not understand since I did not look closely at those little plastic things....they looked like "t's" to me .........oh, well.......I guess I'd better learn to read more carefully in the future!

I'd like to thank all the members of the group that helped me get this ole CB up and running, and running well at that!..The sharing of your knowledge is greatly appreciated. Could not have brought the bike this far without your help! Had the bike out today....it's February here in the NE and temps around 60 degrees is not common, but that is what we had. I took a nice ride and everything worked very well. Thanks again to all of you!
