Damn! That's crazy! Can you find any cheap bench grinders that you could put buffing wheels on?

Spokes for almost any motorcycle can be had from Buchanans for about $100 a wheel.
Nope, I don't re-spoke them myself. Not yet anyways. These two wheels I'll be having done at a local shop where I live. Only thing is it costs like $160 a wheel here to have 'em laced and trued. That sucks so hard.. Only reason I'm not doing it myself is that the season is around the corner and I'm working my ass off to get this puppy going before that.
I'll probably try and learn once I get to switch out the wheels on my other bike to spoked ones. But that's for next winter.
I think Buchanan's will lace and true up a wheel for about another $100 per wheel. That shit really adds up! I've never lace up a motorcycle wheel but have done a few bicycle wheels. I have some 23" rims I'm planning to use on an XS650 or SR500 project and will try lacing them myself. I have a wheel balancer and can use my dial indicator on that to true them up. I almost bought a spoke nipple torque wrench, but talked to few guys about them and they said they weren't really necessary.
Using 23" on a XS650 or SR500? Now that sounds awesome!! You've got to show some pictures of that set up when you get 'er done!
Cant wait to see how it all turns out .That gas cap is something else ! back in the 80,s buddy of mine had a similar bike .Said that cap style was called a de-nutter .nice work
