The twin carb thing solves nothing but frame issues with like a custom frame. Best way to throw away 10 hp. solid as a rock there is. If you can fix two carbs then four is not an issue other than for making excuses.
Follow up for others... I replaced my boots since they were original anyway... but that did not fix my issue. Leak test showed the boots and the vacuum lines were not leaking. The idle was reset and after resetting it several times, it fixed the issue. Either the perfect setting or it's sweet spot was very finicky on this 35 year old bike!
