1971 Honda cb750 speedometer and tachometer rebuild problem

Hello, I am having trouble reassembling the glass in both the speedometer and tach. The rubber gasket that goes around the glass is not allowing the glass to sit all the way down in the round casing and it touches the speedometer and tach needles. I’m not sure if I am assembling this correctly?
Any help or diagram of how to assemble them would be greatly appreciated.
