Front Fender

I am looking into getting a different front fender and was wondering which year fenders will directly fit my 76' 750F?
This is what I have


This is what I would like



I don't like the look of the support piece at the bottom.
Is these any really difference between the two structurally?
Could I remove the support piece with fear of my fender ripping off?

The later ones have a different bolt pattern but anything is possible with some work. I suppose you could get a later one and see if there would be room to drill the appropriate holes to mount to the earlier fork. The later fender mount holes are straight across where the earlier holes are staggered. The problem you would encounter with removing the bottom support is the fact that the fender is rubber mounted and without the support you will get some rocking and fluttering at speed and possible contact with the wheel.
