Well, I read the instructions AGAIN, and there was a mention of the "valves"........which I did not understand since I did not look closely at those little plastic things....they looked like "t's" to me .........oh, well.......I guess I'd better learn to read more carefully in the future!

Using $65 eBay gauges.....no damper on the gauges themselves......BUT they came with these little plastic valves.....NOW I KNOW what they are for! The instructions that came with the gauges never mentioned them! Back to work today. But even as of yesterday that nasty clanging noise at idle...

You guys know how I have been whining and bitching on how bad the bike was running, right. So, as I think I told ya, I ordered new coils and plug wires. I had already put on new plug caps and new plugs (which were duly set to the proper gap) a while ago, so it was not necessary to buy new ones...

I ended up with the Metzler Lasertechs, running on spoked wheels with tubes. I installed them back in September, and have had no problems so far.....NOTE I have not ridden more than 50 miles and no more than 80 MPH, but so far so good!..BTW.......I have no plans top go much faster. I gave up...

Well, well........it was warm today (55 degrees which is warm for December in NY) I did not put the tank on but hooked up my DIY test bottle to warm up the engine. I worked as fast as I could to do the compression test while the motor was still warm......and the results are........... 150 -...

DD I will give it another shot with the engine warm. But, at least for now, during the winter months, I feel more comfortable spending more time cleaning , polishing, touching up paint and so on because I'm at least somewhat confident that the motor is OK. I also used needle nose pliers to...

Just picked up the sears compression tester. It looks to be of very nice quality and has lots of attachments to fit different scenarios. Will give it a try ASAP........QUETSION.........do I have to do the test with the engine at operating temp.....sounds difficult especially for those inside...

Thanks as always for the advice AMC......Just purchased a Sears Craftsman gauge. It will arrive in a few days. It seemed to have more flexibility than the one sold by CB750 supply. Will keep you & the group updated with any progress......26 degrees here this AM....... way too cold to ride...

YUa know I never considered that. When I Googled "how to do a compression test" I got a Popular Mechanics article...( I trust those guys) and they said 1 Tbs......never thought that they were talking about a typical AUTOMOBILE engine and an MC would be less.....:)

Thanks Dirt.........while on the subject of compression test....the thread on the plug holes is 10mm right? Also can I use one of the compression testers that do not thread in but have a rubber tip on the end and ya just hold it in place. Thanks as always.
