    Tach Screw Completely Stripped

Its a 1981 DOHC CB750F I checked compression two weeks ago and had between 130 and 150 on every cylinder. Then I checked and adjusted valve lash. Now compression is 90 on each cylinder. I saw on another forum that simply getting a slightly longer tach screw fixes the problem. I am scared...

    Tach Screw Completely Stripped

Yes, totally and completely stripped. It was held in there with a very very large amount of gasket sealer. In fact, the entire cylinder head cover was held on with an intense amount of gasket sealer.. Seems the previous owner didn't want to but a new gasket, or hit a snag and used an ugly...

DOHC working on pods, what to do after removing airbox?

Someone else with a bit more technical knowledge could answer with a better explanation. But the reason I am leaving the one tube connected to the breather box under the battery, is because I've read if you just hook up a breather filter, it will eventually spit grease and grime all over your...

DOHC working on pods, what to do after removing airbox?

Here's what I ended up doing: I got a crankcase filter for the smaller hose. That's a slick K&N and was 'only' like $14. Then I jammed some of that small hose into the end of the long hose, trimmed it to fit, and stuck it in the end of the box under the battery that it drains to normally.

    Favorite Oil?

Total noob question, what do the numbers refer too? Thickness, density, viscosity? Or do all three of those words mean exactly the same thing? Its been 16 years since high school auto class.. My CB750 manual says to use 10W-40 for regular riding, or SAE30 for riding above 60 degree F...

    Favorite Oil?

Very cool, thanks. Another forum had a bunch of praise for Shell Rotella.. Either way, just about everything is cheaper than GN4, and no one seems to give it praise on any other forum..

    Favorite Oil?

Whats everyone's favorite? Its almost riding season here in Chicago. After looking into more than I did last year (my first year with the bike), it seems not everyone thinks that GN4 is the only thing you should put in your bike. I didn't know any better last year and spent all that money on...

    Cams leaking?

I'm an idiot. The rubber washers were stuck to the cylinder head and preventing me from getting the screws all the way out. Flat head screw driver to pry up the rubber washers and I've got them all changed out..

    Cams leaking?

Hey I've ordered the necessary new rubber washers. I had no trouble installing the 4 that go around the exterior. But the 4 there that are interior, under the frame so to say are being brats. I turn them and turn them and they only come up this far and won't come out. I've used some pliers...

DOHC working on pods, what to do after removing airbox?

I do intend to get rid of the airbox and put in some pods. Do I get little crankcase breathers for both of those 'ports' then? Get a hose clamp to hold the one that goes into the thick hose coming out by dipstick, after I trim the hose to appropriate length? Am I missing a main keyword here...

DOHC working on pods, what to do after removing airbox?

Hey fellas Just removed the carburetor for the first time ever in my life. That was fun, took a lot of elbow grease. It looks to be in good shape which is nice. The guy who sold it to me last summer said he had just cleaned the carbs, I guess he wasn't lying.. Anyways, what do I do here...

    Cams leaking?

Thanks. $6.16 each. Had to be careful, the official Honda Parts House website wanted to charge me like $21 to ship 8 little rubber washers..

    Wiring Custom Speedo and Tach

Gentlemen, I bought a custom Speedo and Tach from Dime City Cycles because I'm sick of looking at the monstrosity of an instrument cluster I have on my '81 CB750F. Looks easy enough to wire, the speedo included a wiring diagram. But its a LED backlit speedo that only has one connection for...
