    Looking for Experienced Opinion.

K I believe, Not 100% sure though. It was Advertised as a 78 When I Bought it. It has 78 Tank and Carbs, but the Title Says 74. I Assume a mistake was made at the BMV but with a 50 yr old Bike who knows what exactly happened. And I did Plan on having the Head Machined, fortunately for Me I have...

    Looking for Experienced Opinion.

So My first Bike as an Adult was a 78 CB-750. I learned how to Rebuild an Engine with it, and I've really spent a lot of Time with it over the last 4 Years and I kinda wanna do something Fun with it now. So I'm Thinking about making it into kind of a Drag Bike Replaca for the Street. And maybe...

    Break Rotor Rubbing Fork

Alright I was able to figure it out. So Last April I took the front Wheel to a Guy I know to Change the Bearings cause I didn't have the Time. He got the Bearings installed fine, but apparently Reinstalled the Axle backwards. Just had to flip it the other way and I'm in Business...

    Break Rotor Rubbing Fork

What's Up Guys? So My 78 CB-750 Sat for approximately a Year while I was getting a new Head for it together. I drug it out Swapped Heads and it Runs better than ever, but for some reason the Break Rotor is now Rubbing the Fork pretty bad and I can figure out why. The Bearings are Practically new...

    78 Head Swap Issue's

It's still not Road Worthy, definitely have some Tuning left to do. But it will at least Idle without Choke now.

    78 Head Swap Issue's

Looks like I got it Guy's! Looks like it was the Pilot Screw's. The Screw's on My XJ add's More Fuel and that's how I set the CB's Screw's But Their actually Opposite They add more Air. So I Reset them a 3/4 of a Turn and it changed everything.

So with #125 Main Jet's I could Ride around all day as long as I stayed in the Pilot Jet but would Lean out when I got into the Main. So I went to #130 Main and it flips flopped and started Running Lean at Low RPM. It makes no sense.

    78 Head Swap Issue's

But it would Run much better up over 4k RPM. This is where I get confused. When I was Running #125 Main's it Ran great under 4k, and if I tried to go over it would go lean and pretty much stall out..

    78 Head Swap Issue's

It's Lean. I took it out around My Neighborhood and after 3 or 4 Minute's it started overheating and Stalling out. I had to Run it on full Choke to get it Home.

One Side is a Tan/Yellowish. And the Spot that appear's Rich in the Pick is not Carbon. It's Silver like Aluminum. Like somehow Aluminum got on the Plug.

Looking into things a little more it looks like I'm Wrong. What I thought was adjusting the Needle is actually adjusting the entire slide. And I do need Shim's to adjust the Needle independently.
  13. J

    78 Head Swap Issue's

Possibly, but I don't think so. Ok so with My Carb's the Number 2 is a Fixed Master that You sync the other Needle's to. And I really can't see a way to adjust that master needle.
  14. J

    78 Head Swap Issue's

Oh and another Indication it's Lean is it Run's much better with the Choke on.

    78 Head Swap Issue's

Only thing is I never touched the Needle's though. Their in the same Position They were in with the old Head. Maybe Your onto something.

    78 Head Swap Issue's

I have the Pumper Carb's. The Needle Position can be adjusted with a Wrench and Screwdriver kinda like You adjust the Valve Tapit's.

    78 Head Swap Issue's

Wait, but if I'm Reading this Chart right which I'd like to think I am. I would not be able to Install non-F2 Valve's into an F2 Head.

    78 Head Swap Issue's

Look's like I need to Pop the Motor back out and make sure I didn't Buy an F2 Head.
  23. J

    78 Head Swap Issue's

From looking at this Chart My Original Head is not an F2. It has non-F2 Piston's as well. Their not the flat one's, Their the Bottom non-F2 Piston's with the little dome in the center. I hope this makes sense lol.

    78 Head Swap Issue's

Interesting. The Head I bought didn't come with Hardware. So along with the Head I replaced the Rocker Tower's and Cam. Then took the Valve's and Spring's from the Original Head and installed them in the New. Everything seemed to Seat fine.

    78 Head Swap Issue's

It has the Factory Airbox with a 4 into 1 into a Straight Pipe. It Ran great for Year's, so I just put everything back the way it was after the Swap. But when I Realized how Lean it was I put an old Muffler off a Mac System on it. Didn't seem to make much difference, nothing does.

    78 Head Swap Issue's

One thing ive Considered is that I possibly Purchased a much earlier Head and it's not Playing very nice with the Pumper Carb's. But that's just a Guess..

    78 Head Swap Issue's

So last Summer I made the unfortunate mistake of allowing a Buddy to take My 78 K on a "Quick Cruise". He Returned 2 Hour's later with a blown Head Gasket and a Warped Head. FF to this passed Summer I snagged a Replacement Head off eBay and Swapped the Original out. The Replacement is...

    Brake Question's

Yeah? That's unfortunate. Its a Semi Cafe Project because I decided I won't be modifying the Frame or anything else for that matter in any way. Would like to possibly return it to Factory Spec later in Life. Maybe see about Swapping the Fork's to Run the 650 Wheel's, and then put the Lester set...

    Brake Question's

What's up Guy's? I'm New to the Page, I have a 74 that came with Tank and Plastic's from a 78. It has the Pumper Carb's from a 78 as well. Anyway's I also have an 84 CB-650 with no Title and I was wondering if it was possible to mount the Twin Disk front Breaks it has on my 750's 19" Lester Mag...
