Ive been working on a 1980 Cb750f Super Sport. I recently purchased a new reg/rec and hit a road block wiring. The new reg recs wiring harness seems to have a jumper wire come from one of the field coils to the ground.
As far as I'm aware the field coil doesn't have polarity. The factory...
I would think if everything else is clean and valves are good, then could it be the idle screw or throttle cables? Does it idle good without throttle cable attached?
Isn't it best to do a compression test with the engine warm? I guess when first looking into the bike, it would be to see if the numbers are consistent?
Did you check the high idle screw? Spray some carb cleaner near the boot connections, if the idle changes, then it is a vacuum leak.
Maybe remove the carbs and give it a good once over to be sure all of the butterflies are working correctly and the mixture screws are in the correct spot.
I recently purchased a '80 Super Sport that has been sitting for four years. Rebuilt the carbs, new battery, new spark plugs, and tried to start it. At first I had some trouble getting it to turn over and thought I broke the starter because all i could hear was a beep/squeak coming from it...
Yeah, I've been reading that pods don't work well with these carbs. That airbox is just UGLY.
This is my first ever rebuild on a bike, so this is all new to me.
