    Carb synchronization question

I've rebuilt the carb bank on my '82 CB750 Custom, per these instructions: http://www.cb750c.com/publicdocs/SeanG/Honda_Carb_Manual_revG.pdf Bike is still hard starting at the moment. Once it's warmed up, starts just fine, but I have to use a bit of starting fluid if it's cold (fresh battery...

    turn signals not working

Not me. Not ever, so thought I'd share. They ALL had me fooled as being perfectly functional, because none were burned, each was tested (more then once), but were definitely the problem as it turns out. They had corroded on the inside the metal caps (oxidized is my guess). Once fuses are...

Front Brake Lever Piston / New Brake Lines

Ok, thanks. Followed your instructions and got the brakes bled. Removed the reservoir, it wasn't stuck, but the o-ring was sure tight, so prying it up carefully was required. That gave me far better access to the troublesome pin hole. I then used a very fine wire, which got the hole going...

Front Brake Lever Piston / New Brake Lines

The plastic reservoir has a clear round (like a washer) bottom with three holes drilled in it. They line up over the holes in the metal base, including the super small pin hole. However, the plastic reservoir really is in the way when trying to push a very fine copper wire into the pin hole. No...

Front Brake Lever Piston / New Brake Lines

I'm getting closer to to road ready on a '82 CB750 Custom. The previous owner had let the bike sit, but his brother installed a new plastic brake reservoir on the brake lever and gave me all new front brake lines (all the way down to the calipers). Installed those, but their full of air at the...

    turn signals not working

Ok, more to share for edification and hopefully, someone else will learn too. I was getting low voltage on the white / green wire at the headlight connection, and the same wire on the connection to the instrument cluster. Readings ranged from 8 - 10 volts, and sometimes no voltage at all (with...

    turn signals not working

Excellent advice. Thank you. During the experimentation, the ignition plug was "rotated" while the ignition was out and then plugged in. That's when everything worked, so I'll dig there next and see if I can find something. My ignition switch is stock, original part I believe. The bike was...

    turn signals not working

Ok, mystery does deepen. Pulled starter switch, turn signal switch open, headlight case, tested wiring (white / green) in headlight, proper voltage reading (this time) with key on. Even got the headlight / turn signals to finally work with original relay installed! Got all dash lights too as...

    turn signals not working

Didn't know that about the bulbs, thanks. Little "details" like that can make all the difference. Mine were all ok. The white / green wire has very low voltage with the key on (still using the replacement regulator). Starts at .34 and then climbs slowly to 1.64, after which I stopped testing...

    turn signals not working

Ok, it's working again. Here's what I did: removed headlight, examine wires behind light, found nothing of interest. Pulled ignition plug and pulled ignition completely out. Was planning on testing ignition, so I plugged it back in (but not installed) - and as a fluke, decided to try the key...

    turn signals not working

The word "Head" is on the fuse block cover sticker. I assume it means headlight. There is no power to this fuse on either side of the fuse (which is also intact). Also, the "Oil" on the fuse block has no power with key on of course, not on either side of the fuse (which is also intact). None...

    turn signals not working

With key on, oil pressure and "head" (whatever that is supposed to mean) have no power. Turn signals, tail and horn do have power. Nothing gets warm to the touch (regulator, ignitors, fuses, starter relay) with the key on. Is there a way to test ignitors?

    turn signals not working

Installed a used voltage regulator (purchased from a cycle supply - I'm assuming it's good). Still have no power, no dash lights, etc., however, in Park mode on the ignition, I get a rear tail light to turn on. Can't recall if I checked Park mode before, don't think so. So that regulator swap...

    turn signals not working

That "Stanley" diode checks out fine - I didn't check both "directions" the first time as I should have. The "shorted green wire" only barely contacted the positive very briefly, probably not enough to my thinking to fry any 18 or heavier gauge wires, but it still certainly killed the power...

    turn signals not working

Ok, that makes sense. I found this vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ted0_4On29M and the rectifier "passed" these tests, including the powered black lead with the key on. So now I'm thinking the zero power situation is something else (got fried), not the rectifier. I can ask around, but...

    turn signals not working

Correction on the year - 1982. I followed the Clymer instructions to check the regulator/rectifier, need a little clarification. Testing the leads, connect the ohm meter to the green wire and then testing each of the 3 yellow wire (page 201 in my manual), I get 4.03 ohms across all leads...

    turn signals not working

I tested continuity on both sides of the main fuse and it's fine. So I think I fried something else altogether, but at the moment, am at a loss as to what it might be. Is there anything I can check at the ignition switch? Any inline fuses in there or perhaps a relay? I haven't pulled it out yet.

    turn signals not working

Well, that was stupid... was moving that loose green wire and it touched the positive on the battery. Sparked for a second, now I've got nothing (no lights/ignition). So I probably blew a fuse. Main 30 amp fuse still looks ok, and so do the glass fuses on the dash. Where is the so-called "inline...

    turn signals not working

I found a new automotive two-pole relay - installed it and it did not work (fix the problem). Honda wanted nearly $30 for the part (if they could get it ordered in), so I thought I'd try the cheaper version at $7.95... I have not tried chasing down the ground wire issue mentioned yet... but I...

    turn signals not working

Thank you. I'll get another solenoid and try that. Didn't want to guess - it's 70 miles to the nearest shop.

    turn signals not working

Hi - first post. Picked up a very low mileage '82 CB750. Have a few issues I could use some advice on as I try to get this road worthy. Turn signals light up (running lights on front), but don't flash (they turn off when turn signal is activated). There is a fat round solenoid mounted next to...
