If I'm not mistaken, the crankcase vents (after removing the PODs) should go to a tee piece, the middle of the tee to the top of the airbox.

82 CB750C - High Idle after touching throttle, no spawn of satan?

Have you synced the carbs? Also check that they all spring back to nearly fully closed properly.

    Let's see your CB750

Hi all, here's mine. It just featured on 'Return of the cafe racers' https://www.returnofthecaferacers.com/honda-cafe-racer/green-muse-fiorello-galluzzo-cb750f/

    Valve setting 81 cb750k dohc

Just checked my notes from when I did mine. Target was 0.127mm (0.005") with min/max range of 0.102 - 0.152 (0.004" - 0.006"). So yes, definitely worth proceeding with getting the gaps within tolerance. The fun part, you can try playing musical chairs by rearranging what you have to get as many...

    Valve setting 81 cb750k dohc

Putting carbs back on can be a pain as you know. A trick that makes it a lot easier is to heat the rubbers with a heat gun. The jet under the rubber plug is the troublesome low speed or idle jet. They are either pressed in or have a slot in the top which can be unscrewed. Putting the guitar...

    Valve setting 81 cb750k dohc

Cleaning the carbs ultrasonically alone is probably not enough. Fully dismantling is the way to go. The primary and main jets shouldn’t be too much of an issue. The problem is idle jet which if you’re lucky, you’ll have the model where they are removable and easier to clean otherwise the guitar...

    Valve setting 81 cb750k dohc

Ok, there is a bit going on in this thread, valves, coils, ignition so I'm trying to break it down into smaller chunks otherwise you could be frustratingly chasing your tail. So after sorting out the ignition, I'm assuming you're now getting good spark on #3 and #4? If that's all good, cooler...

    Valve setting 81 cb750k dohc

Hi there, adjusting the valves is important and can be done yourself with basic tools. It's not hard to do but very fiddly, best bet is to get yourself a manual. There is lots of info online too. Basically you need to check the gaps between the valve shims and camshafts. If gap is within...

'79 CB750F super sport / DOHC -- replacement rear brake master cylinder

Most of those generic ones should work however just check the centre to centre bolt distance against yours if you're not planning to modify the mounting point. I used the below on mine (82 CB750F) which looks very similar to the one you posted except for the bolt spacing distance...

Although POD's look cool on a custom build, this is the reason I stuck with the original air box as these CV carbs are quite fiddly to get right at the best of times. Often there are a number of other problems contributing like vacuum leaks via the intake boots or throttle shaft seals. Then...

Honda CB 750 Custom Rattling Engine Noise

Sounds a bit like either the timing or engine/cam chain. Assuming on the front of the engine you've loosened loosen locknut and back off the bolt while engine is running then retighten to adjust the tension on the timing chain but have you done the adjustment for the other chain? Loosen the 2 x...

    Hanging throttle/high idle

Hi there, I feel your pain. I think I dismantled my carbs at least another two times after fully rebuilding them and I did replace the felt throttle shaft seals which don’t seem to be an available replacement part however there is a helpful guy (Aaron) that makes them. Send an email to him at...

Have you checked the battery? Could there be a charging problem that has completely drained the battery?

    79 CB750 Starter issue?

Check and clean the ground connections ensuring good metal to metal contact. May need to charge the battery as it has likely drained with the testing. 9v under load is too low.
