    Floats & needles

    Each needle has a pin that the float pushes against. This pin is spring loaded, and should "bounce". If the pin does not push in and spring out, soak just the pin in carb cleaner since it might be gummed up.

    A jaw puller will take it off, but as you say, it will destroy the rotor, no matter how careful you are.

    Try your rear axel. Same thread.

    Accelerator pump may have a bad diaphragm, missing check balls, or is not set up (little metal tab that is bent to engage the pump when cracking the throttle)

    Did you check your valve timing? It sounds like it may be 180 degrees out.
