I have a KZ400 that I've been messing with for a few years. Foot clutch, jockey shift, free spool hub, 2 inches of ground clearance. .. A guy at work has an 81 or 82 CB750 that he is willing to trade for it. Someone years back did a rattle can job on the frame, covering the vin, then sanded it to remove the paint, damaging the vin. This is from what he is telling me by looking at it at dusk, he doesn't have the best vision. The guy he got it from is pretty upstanding in the bike community, and is an old friend of his. He game him a bill of sale for an 81 with a vin listed as J81B1004F. I Haven't seen it yet, so I can't attest to the condition of the stamping or if it is on an attached plate, etc. I can't find much on this number, can anyone chime in with some year and model info? Any guidance on how to handle things if there is not a vin on the frame?
