Hard start

Got everything together and a new battery but it won’t fire at a low idle unless I totally block the intake to get fuel into the chamber
1980 CB750f
Need help to diagnose this problem
Has spark, fuel and compression
Brand new battery
Northern climate in Edson Alberta

What shape are the carburetors in?

Rebuilt twice readjusted the pilot screws to spec checked the float bowls all working properly

I am guessing bad fuel?

If it will only fire when you block the inlet then your jets are plugged. Does the choke not work? Why rebuild twice?

Crack open the drains at the bottom of the carbs and see if the bowls are getting fuel.

If you rebuilt the carbs wouldn't you start with fresh fuel?
