Howdy - I just got this '79 cb750 limited yesterday. My uncle had it in a storage barn nearly 30 years - the tabs on it are from '87. One pic is shows how dirty it was. The other is after washing it a bit.
Just the fact that it's stock and complete makes it a good bike. Hopefully he drained the gas from the carbs.
If your not experienced at working on that type of carburetor or 4 carb systems be sure to learn how before you start any work on them yourself. I wouldn't trust any mechanic that didn't have several of them in his shop either LOL
I don't know if the gas was drained. I saw the fuel was off so maybe it was. There is gas in the tank, however. That will be a mess, I'm sure.
I have Suzuki gs750 that I tore apart last winter. I've got some experience now, but am surely not an expert. I learned I need to read first, wrench later.
Thanks!
Just about done with the latest creation, have a few odds and ends to wrap up but its pretty much an exact replica... Anxious to get started on the '77 CB750 soon!
That's a fibermold tank, I remember a couple bikes that ran them but gasohol ate the insides. This one sat on a shelf for decades then I lined it. It was pinstriped by the Englishman at Laconia but he didn't sign it. The two on the right are wrecked cb's that came with the 6 I bought from one guy that was moving. After the 6, he practically gave me a 78 GL1000.
Just finished and ready to spring riding.
Here's the build thread http://www.cb750.com/threads/595-CB750-K5-Restoration.
I started this bike for my wife over 4 years ago. It's pretty much a stock 1975 CB750 K5 with some 70s accessories. Bored out to 836, pamco ignition, CycleX cut transmission gears, everything rebuilt. My wife met with the air brush artist to design the Cherry Blossom custom paint job. As you can see it's HER bike.
She'll hate that I posted this picture of her, right after her workout.
New project getting closer to coming together.. 77 K7, CBR600 front end, CB500X rear end which I'm either going to shorten a bit or just go in a different direction.. I'm not crazy about the length of the arm after doing a render (although not to scale).. but getting closer!
