Bike: '76 CB750 - two issues (presently )

1.) Taking out the crankshaft the other day I noticed the advancer shaft was slightly bent (before taking it all out)….hit the side of the case on the way out and SNAP. :eek:Doh!

Check out the duct tape that the PO had put on it. Must have been slipping?

And now I can't get the remainder out of the crankshaft. Any ideas? Tap and pull??

Can't find a used one on eBay but managed to locate a new one from here: http://www.yamiya750.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=advancer+shaft

Just wondering if anyone had a spare laying around, or know of someone, that wouldn't mind selling me?

2.) check out the spark plugs

The PO had four different kinds of plugs in - two of them, from what I understand, are actually recommended. Running too lean?

Thank for taking the time to have a look and any suggestions you have.

Cheers

The shaft is threaded into the crankshaft so you will have to either drill the center and use an easy out or weld a nut to the broken shaft. Dont know on the tape...the point advancer cant slip on the shaft as it is located to the crankshaft by the other hole you see in the end of the crankshaft. The whole point of this shaft is to keep the point advancer tight up against the crank...it is not to be used to turn the motor over...that is why most shafts are bent. NGK D8EA are the stock plug, you cant determine how the engine is running from these plugs because different plugs will have different heat ranges which will show different amounts of buildup on the insulator. You need to get it running ....with the correct plugs then go from there.

Just be sure to protect the bearing surfaces from welding spatter.
