1980 CB 750k, rotor side oil seal

Ya I see what you mean, it looks like it will also be necessary to un-cap the crank bearings too, so it can be lifted up just enough for the seal to clear that groove. I did also see some black streaks on the slip rings (looked like carbon) and I have been having a charging problem, even though...

    1979 CB750k no 6th gear

Sorry I probably have my descriptions wrong, I meant 1 tooth to the small sprocket. But after reading one of your other comments, I will most likely leave it like Honda designed it. This is my first motorcycle, but I have been running 4 cylinder Japanese motors all my life, and you are right...

1980 CB 750k, rotor side oil seal

Is the oil seal behind the rotor coil serviceable without removing the motor and splitting the case? And is a minor oil leak/drip in this area detrimental to the coil, stater, or brushes? Any info or advice is appreciated. I just finishing up installing a new rotor, and stater coil, don't want...

    1979 CB750k no 6th gear

I have a 1980 CB-750k and although it does cry for a sixth gear, it is a 5 speed. I have been thinking about increasing the number of teeth on the final drive sprocket by one.

    1980 cb750K A, need schematic

I am trying to work out some issues with my electrical system. I downloaded a manual from this site but the full schematic at the end of the electrical section is not legible. you can see the lines good enough, but you cant read any of the text. so you cant see any connector names, or wire...

    battery not charging

I purchased an Electrosport Industries rotor from Parts Giant, it is testing at about 5.5 ohm. battery is still not charging, I have a voltage reg on its way, stater coil is testing fine, and even though the battery is not getting charged, since I installed the rotor the motor now cranks...

    battery not charging

Have you known of anybody that has successfully rewound one of these coils themselves? doesn't seem that it would be too hard, IF you knew the wire dia,and number of wingdings. I have a good friend that is a chemist in the semi-conductor industry, he could spec. the potting compound for me.

    cant get a steady idle

I finally got it out for about a 20-30 min. ride today, temp here is 88 deg. so I know it got fully warmed up, and the idle was more consistent. But I could not get it to run over about 2k rpm, until I thought lets see what some choke will do? with the choke fully on I could get up to about 4.5k...

    cant get a steady idle

I was reading some of your responses in other posts, and am beginning to think I have never really had it completely warmed up. New to air cooled motors, have been scared to let it get to hot just sitting there. so how hot is too hot? My mistake, it's "idle drop procedure" section 4-17, under...

    cant get a steady idle

I am now getting ready to do the throttle drop procedure on my 1980 k model. Cant get a steady idle. Using the idle adjusting screw I can get it down to a fairly low rpm, and I think "that doesn't sound to bad" and then in about a min. or two, it starts surging up to over 3-4 k rpm. I adjust the...

    advice for airbox installation

Ok thanks for the vent and vacuum port info. I actually did not have to bad a time installing the air-box, boots on box, make sure all tubes and wires were out of the way, then I held the air-box as far to the rear as possible, and tightened down the mounting bolt good and hard so it would not...

    advice for airbox installation

    Airbox installation

Were you the one that took them apart? Are all the parts the same as before disassembly, or are any of them new, or different? if new parts could they possibly be the wrong ones for your model? I am getting ready to reinstall my air-box on my 1980 CB750k model with new boots, will let you know...

Well I finally got my air-box boots, any advice on installation is appreciated. My main question is do I attach them to the carbs first and then to the air-box, or vice-versa? Thanks for the help Leonard

    Pilot Screw Adjustment 1981 CB750C

download a Honda factory manual on your model, and ditch the Clymer. get a good battery, make sure the oil is full, spin it over and see if it makes any horrible noises, If not check the compression, if its within spec then start with rebuilding the carbs, and cleaning out the fuel tank. Good luck

    1980 cb750k, with 1981 motor, need carb O-ring & jet sizes

I have the original motor also, the previous owner replaced the whole motor because he said the original motor was making a knocking noise, but I just assumed it was replaced with the same year and model motor. Getting ready to ditch the pods, and go back to the OEM airbox. I will be going thru the carbs again, want to double check a few things. When I rebuilt them the first time, the O-rings for the fuel cut offs were the wrong size, diameter was ok but the cross sectional thickness was thinner...
