    Setting the Accelerator Pump

So it turns out I had the spring on the wrong side of the diaphragm which I only checked after bending the arm. With spring on the right side it actually sits where it should. But now the arm doesn’t bend back. Looks like I’ll have to dear down the whole thing to bend it backwards.

    Setting the Accelerator Pump

The bike dies when giving it throttle and I have been working through the carbs and the FSM. Set my float height and went to do the measurements for the accelerator pump. The rod rests on the control arm when the spring is out. With the spring in it is 0.5mm from the arm. When opening full...

    New Member. 1979 CB750K

We're in an identical spot with our 79 cb750k bikes. Same behavior. Same checks. I have significant air leaks before and after the carbs so I have eight new insulators. Also need to check clearances.

Slowly dying at idle with rough running.

Thanks AMC. I ordered those linked insulators and an air filter. Great site. Now I need to get a compression tool and get cracking. I also need to figure out how to get the whole carb assembly to slide forward. No amount of force is getting it to budge.

What model tires are you running and why?

I asked this question about three months ago on another site and ended up with Avon Speedmasters. I haven't ridden them enough yet to give them a fair shake, but they were highly recommended.

My '79 project after its first ride following a year of cursing.

Slowly dying at idle with rough running.

I have a stock '79 that I have been slowly working on as time allows. After an extensive amount of work overhauling the electrical, suspension, wheels, and tires I am tackling the carbs/engine. Behavior: Immediately starts with choke. Begins revving high immediately. Turn choke to 25% and bike...

Cb750f2 how to soften front forks.

I am curious as well. My 79 is pretty brutal, but one of the forks doesn't have oil so I know I may be overthinking that one.

    General Reliability for Daily Riding

I wanted to follow up that the bike is almost finished. I got an Africa Twin as my daily. So far on the cb750 learning as I go: Rebuilt carbs Sync'd and adjusted Cleaned the points and adjusted Fixed the charging system and replaced the battery Cleaned the tank and added an inline filter...

    General Reliability for Daily Riding

That tells me a lot. Thanks! I'm between diving into this machine or saving up for a 2014 CB1100. Either way, the style really resonates with me and the seat and handlebar position feel so much better than my Vstrom or rebel 500.

    79 750K Battery Won't Charge

Thank you Dave. Are the Rick's rotors worth it or should I spring for an OEM? I see electrosports has a much less expensive unit but if their Vstrom reputation is anything to go by I'm already not trusting.

    General Reliability for Daily Riding

That's very helpful Dave, thank you. I'm capable of anything if I take long enough. Some times a really, really long time ;) I just don't want to be stranded on a regular basis.

    79 750K Battery Won't Charge

Thanks Dave. I got the factory manual from my the PO and started from the top. Battery out the battery reads 12.8 volts Running with the choke at 2k the bike reads 12.40 and gets to 12.55 at 3500k. I disconnected the rotor power and popped the case and a bunch of stuff fell out and it smells...

    General Reliability for Daily Riding

I've got a 79 CB750K and the big question is if I can get the bike reliable enough to rely on for Texas commuting. I have several bikes, but I would like to sell them and roll with just the CB if it can be made dependable. From those of you who have put serious time or money into keeping them...

    79 750K Battery Won't Charge

I got a new to me 750k that has a couple issues. The big one I want to tackle this week is a lack of charging. Leave the bike on the tender over night and it makes it about 15 minutes before it starts misfiring and ultimately dies with no power, ignition, or lights. The bike starts immediately...

    Let's see your CB750

Thanks folks. I'm going to start tearing down this weekend. That write-up is very helpful. My biggest problem is the fact that the bike isn't charging and has to be thrown on the tender to get run time. Experience with a previous Honda led me down the burned connector path with success. I'll...

    Let's see your CB750

Hello everyone. Just got a hold of a family 79 750k. I need to baseline it. Starts instantly, but surges and leaks gas from the carbs. Here she blows! Throttle sticks and the front brakes don't hold her still even when walking. I have a bit of work ahead of me.
