I have had the air cut off valve leak and the cylinder runs way rich at idle up to about 4k rpms. It runs so rich the plug can't fire at idle. My symptoms showed if I could get it above 4K rpms suddenly the bike took off and ran great! But it struggled around idle and up to about 4k rpms.
I...
I am not sure what you mean in your last sentence. When you turn on your left turn signals on, the right and brake light turns off???
Sounds like it might be a bad ground or a bad connection in the switch. Was it working before the LED change?
Good luck
IIRC - the oil light and the brake light are the same on the dash. Are you sure the rear brake light is working?
Or if you did as I did and replace the rear brake light with an LED, the "oil/brake" light comes on in the dash.
Good luck.
I'd check around your wires for arcing. Probably need to do it at night. I forget there used to be a trick with simple-green or armor all or some other cleaner that "helped" show arcing.
Perhaps if you just move the wires around so they don't get close to each other will help. Good luck.
That's interesting... my #2 plug was wet with fuel. I plugged the ACV (side port) and now it runs well. I assumed it was running too rich to fire the #2. Maybe it was the accelerator pump. IDK.
I am not sure where to post this in the forums since I am not sure it is a carb leak.
I seem to get oil under the carb#2 and all over my starter cover.
I can only think this is an oil-breather tube leak. But it smells like gas. The liquid feels like oil.
I only get this after it runs...
I am finding an oil/gas mix on top of my starter cover.
Could the oil breather tubes leak around the carbs?
The breather hoses all check out OK. I have clips on the hoses and T-connections. It seems very weird.
Seems like I have two issues, an oil breather tube leak and a carb leak.
I...
I wouldn't sand blast it. I imagine you won't get ALL the sand out, but maybe.
I went with an aftermarket master cylinder. So far so good. I know, it's not original, but mine isn't going to be in any concourse, nor will it be a collector as it isn't now.
I found these generic ones for $22 on amazon.

There is atleast one more with prime shipping for $40.
Not sure about the quality tho.

#1 I noticed that the head of the pilot screw for carburetor #1 is raised much higher than the other pilot screws
Yes this is possible. I had the same thing when I replaced a pilot screw.
#2 Can backfiring be caused by a weak battery, and would you expect it to get hot enough to flash-vaporize...
My issue was #2 wasn’t running in the lower rpms. It flooded out below 4K. The air cut off circuit will make it run rich when the diaphragm has a tear. Most people apparently plug them as they only help with popping on hard deceleration.
Good luck with yours.
The accelerator pump wasn’t the problem.
The #2 air cut off diaphragm was ripped. Apparently the thing to do is block the air cut off valve. I did this and it all works great.
I’m going to plug the rest.
Thabks all for the help.
Good job!
I put a dimmer on mine thinking they were too bright. I haven’t turned them down or off since the first week I was playing with the dimmer. They are always on now.
If you haven’t already, I hope by changing all incandescent bulbs to LED I’m saving my rectifier and stator and...
Sooo.
I’m under the impression the accelerator pump is expected to squirt fuel into all four carburetors, correct?
This is not happening.
I’m guessing the fuel rail looking piece connecting what seems to be the accelerator squirt to all four carbuerators is blocked. Only #2 is squirting...
I check the mic. It was off. I now have .013 mm exhaust on all except #1. #1 is now .010 on both valves exhaust.
The intake are all .010 except #4 intake is at 013mm.
I still have a #2 cold cylinder exhaust pipe.
This seems to be a float issue in the carb. I also read someone said the...
That's weird that the black is +.
The Germans (Porsche/VW) did that before though. Where brown is negative. Brown is earth, therefore it was ground.
Your link shows it has red, black and a white for the harness. The link also shows a grey (presuming black), red and a white.
With the...
I have those on my BMW. Interesting mounts. Did you make those?
It looks like they are on your fork sliders...
What did you connect them into for power?
Start with the basics.
What is your compression on each cylinder?
What do your plugs look like? When were they last changed?
While the carbs seem to be problematic and easily get junk in them, I would confirm the basics are good first.
Are you sure you're running on all four cylinders...
I see I used inches to measure the gap in my first thread. Sorry about that. I plan to use mm going forward. As such, I can get a .04 mm in all of them. I can not get a .05 mm in any of them.
Thanks.
