Should this carb be replaced? Slider groove tab is gone.

Throttle valve (some call it a slider) as shown #21 has a grove. This grove is aligned with a small tab inside the carb body. That little tab is gone....that's what I meant.... The valve goes in and slides freely, I'm just concerned of it potentially rotating since the tab is not there to keep...

Should this carb be replaced? Slider groove tab is gone.

Planning a rebuild soon and i know that in one of the carbs, the sleeve tab is gone. I assume someone either did not match the slider groove with the tab or tried to spin the slider while inside the carb and the tab got broken off. Can this potentially cause a problem? I think highly unlikely...

Knocking sound behind front sprocket cover?

So I did more looking around and its not coming from behind the sprocket cover, it comes from the carbs. Yes,carbs, this leads me to believe its probably not metal on metal knocking but rather air being sucked in louder than I would expect therefore making that sound resembling a constant...

    Takes long to warm up?

1973 CB750. How long does yours take to warm up? With a cold start, I keep the choke fully open for about a minute, then close it. At this point I have to adjust the idle screw probably about a whole turn in order to keep the RPM around 1000 without the bike cutting off, oil pressure gauge...

Knocking sound behind front sprocket cover?

Title pretty much says it. While idling I hear a light metal on metal knocking. I hear it the most clearly when my head is down by the front sprocket cover. This knocking is consistent and follows a timed pattern. Any ideas?

    Got the horn?

Thanks. love the paint.....or the lack of... I sandblasted the tank and left whatever wouldnt come off. Bondo'd some dents, put the numbers on the sides, sprayed silver to match the old paint/primer, sanded it down to look worn out and thats it. Now I just polish it once a week. Then the side...

    Got the horn?

This is what I installed. Its about as loud as a car with a low tone sound. FIAMM 72012 12 V Low Note http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000DN7T3A?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00 I made a bracket and installed it here:

I'm in Springfield. That exhaust came with the bike but it looks like one of those Carpy exhaust maybe???? Installed a fork brace and low tone horn. Upgraded rear shocks to the Progressive 12 series with standard springs and do feel the difference. Now the front needs an upgrade. But... I'm...

aaaaaand a few more things... I really like how the oil pressure gauge looks down in the oil galley so I went for it. Now that I have it, it actually seems pretty useful, good to know what pressure you're running. Ive been looking for solutions for passenger pegs but most would either not...

    rear shocks

Has anyone bought/used the shocks that vintagecb750.com has for sale for $99? My bike came with shocks which I highly doubt are stock however I am not able to identify what they are. I was looking at progressive rear shocks as an upgrade and then came across the ones at vintagecb750 Any reviews?

Gauge blinker light only goes ON when blinking one way

Thank you, thats what I what thinking. Today I noticed that when the right turn signal in ON, the left LEDs also light up just s tiny bit until I unplug the blinker wires coming from the indicator light...figured its something related to LED bulbs.

Gauge blinker light only goes ON when blinking one way

Hello all, I installed the mini speedo which includes all of the indicator light (Neutral, Oil, Blinkers, etc.) On my '73 750, the original light indicator console only had 1 light for blinkers, it would blink weather you had the left or right blinker activated. This new speedo is the same...

Decided to do a few additional mods. The shiny chrome bumper didn't really go with the rough look I was after. A worn out looking flat black stripe improved it a little. I had a hard time deciding between a headlight "bag" vs. a grill face. Ended up making a cover out of the same fabric as the...

Semi-finished. Still need turn signals, will have to make some passenger pegs, and might do something with the front fender. May also need to make another side cover for the oil tank.....it gets kinda hot. By the way, in case anyones bike leans too much due to a higher stand or a shorter...

And final touches on the seat. In the back I have a metal bracket which will slide into the opening, therefore keeping the rear of the seat down against the hoop. The front will have a clamp. Clamp can be opened and seat can be lifted up in about 5 seconds Decided to make a license plate...

Headlight housing was cracked so I went with a new and smaller light from DimeCity along with smaller gauges and a cell phone pouch to hide all of the wires. I cut out the middle light panel. While I was there i noticed the top triple tree was cracked at one of the fork openings. Got a used set...

Next was the seat. In order to have a flat brat seat, I had to replace the stock battery box rubber washers with thinner ones and shorten the bolts. This brought the top of the box bolts below the level of where the seat is going to be resting. Got some diamond stitched fabric off ebay and a...

Thanks. I decided to go semi-bare. I like the old beat up look without the rust. The underside though is completely rust free and painted.

Plugged all the holes, POR15 went in. Rotated the tank in different directions for about 45minutes and drained the ret. Then after, rotated maybe every 15min. Came out very nice. 4 days later, got to work on the exterior. More sanding and cleaning. Next step - fill in the dent and see...

I guess its about time I post an update and some pictures. My brother picked up a 1978 soon after I got mine. Both bikes got cleaned/degreased. More cleaning and polishing. Previous owner had all of the electrical stuff under the seat hump. Since I plan on going with a brat seat, I...

Hello everyone. New member here out of NJ. Car guy turned bike guy. Have restored classic cars before, never restored/customized a bike, just rode a few. I got a 1973 cb750 in pretty good shape. Frame was sand blasted and powder coated, engine had some work done. Carbs need to be adjusted...
