I think the reply was referring to jumping the cylinder shaped starter solenoid the two larger posts with nuts. There might be a little arc when You do this. if it turns over the problem ls in the two smaller post wires or the solenoid it self. in which You will have to ring out the wires with...
The friend I got It from passed away years ago He a blew a hole in engine case from a lost chain He got cases as close to the factory numbers and had a dealer swap all the parts I hate to talk ill of the passed one but You almost had to pry a buck from Him Yet He paid $1100 for the swap years...
D.D. waiting for My Grandson to get some time off from the dealership to give Me a hand removing the motor got some heart issues and others going on. Let Ya know when I get it apart.
Slept on the idea overnight and decided to leave it. The compression is 125 to 130psi dry wet check 170 plus so that's an issue. At My age I think the chain might outlast Me. I was always one to perform preventive maintainance on every thing I own but I think this is one thing I will leave...
Thanks AMC for the advice very much appreciated. I think I will look for a good brand of chain and purchase the staking tool. The bottom end of the engine has no leaks, noises, and great oil pressure that's why I do not want to disassemble it. Again thanks
Thanks D.D. for ringing in, The chain is original that came with the bike the miles are accurate, Any alternative to not disassembling the bottom end such as a linked chain sold by CB750 supply?
Been a long while since been on here, I need some advice for a 1971 sohc I want to send My cylinder out to Cycle X for a next size overbore and get a set of pistons and rings from them. My question is would it be a bad move to use the original cam chain with 8,200 miles I hate to tear the bottom...
My mistake I removed the breather hose and have it hanging on the side of the bike there is a minimum amount of engine air discharging from it but it is nothing like removing a tappet cover.
Hi everyone long time since I was on here, Anyway I have a lot of air coming from the tappet cover when running at idle I thought this pressure was released out the breather hose nothing comes from it if it is it is unnoticeable any help much appreciated. Thanks
I looked at Mine which is a 1971 titled as a 1972 and the two on it has a section of rubber hoses connected to those and tucked on top of the air cleaner box. Perhaps for breathers or vents.
First off do not fill the engine with oil in the valve caps. The engine is a dry sump meaning the oil is stored in the oil tank not the oil pan when started the oil is fed from tank to the engine oiling circuit via oil pump. I believe there is a check valve to keep the oil in the tank when not...
Charge the battery to full charge 12.6 volts or better use 1or2 Amp. charger. With everything turned off completely remove and touch the neg. cable to the battery if You get a slight arc do this in a low light area so You can notice it. If so start disconnecting items one at time until arc...
The sleeve Your referring to is a part of the throttle cable bellcrank, If You broke it the the carbs will not function. If it is broke it will turn more than one revolution, I usually cut the old ones off (grips) with a box cutter there usually glued on. Spray some hairspray in the new grips...
I have broke many side cover tabs off in the past. The best fix is glue parts back to together with ABS cement not PVC glue but ABS it actually melt bonds the parts together. As AMC said replace grommets with new or as I do coat them often with lubricant.
That is up to You, I have seen maybe six or seven bent ones in My life and the trees were not damaged. I meant progressive brand springs in the frt. tubes. Old springs tend to sag You can check the service length as per the manual spec,s put it on a jack and check for looseness on other parts...
Since the shop that that resealed the forks did not top the forks off with oil is not saying much for there work, If the tree was cracked chances are one or both fork tubes are bent they are pretty soft metal it can make handling pretty bad. it could be a number of things. Everytime I rebuild...
