    Brakes rub when turning?

Thanks man, will check the bearings this weekend. Also it looks like there is definitely some internal play in the forks, is this a case of adjustment or replacement? Probably due some new seals and fork oil anyway! Thanks

    Brakes rub when turning?

Hi everyone, I've pretty much run out of ideas with this! I'm riding a 78' sohc cb750k7, and since I first got it the brakes have rubbed when turning left. It's not enough to notice when riding (sometimes a little squeal), but it's impossible to wheel around when turning left. In an total...

Jets for 4 into 1 exhaust.

Thanks dirtdigger. I'll get the float height and ignition looked at/adjusted first then. If they check out ok, can I assume that the bike may be running a little rich given the black plugs and 4 into 1? Also as far as establishing the current main jet size, is there a measuring tool you'd...

Jets for 4 into 1 exhaust.

Hi everyone. I recently purchased a k7 SOHC running Keihin round-top carbs and a 4 into 1 exhaust with stock airbox. It starts well and gets good all-round performance (smooth with good MPG) but I've been having a few issues: Boggy low revs SLIGHT spitting/popping if held at 3k + SLIGHT smoke...

OUT OF NOWHERE 2 and 3 have stopped firing!...

Hi everyone, been slowly working my way through a list of issues on a 1978 750k. Put some insurance and tax on it recently so I could start riding it round to get a feel for any issues that needed sorting. It actually started and ran REAL well with no popping, knocking or smoke for a whole 2...

Front brake rubbing, but also not stopping well...

Well I managed to get this sorted out in the end! First issue was that the master cylinder was shot, allowing air back into the system. I decided to replace the whole thing with a brand new reproduction one from Dave silver, this gave me the braking power I needed. With the rubbing issue I...

    Extremely weak front brake...

Managed to get this sorted out eventually! I had several problems: First was that my master cylinder seals were shot (allowing air back into the system). I was going to replace them but ended up just forking out on a brand new master cylinder from Dave Silver spares. Second was the the groove...

    Extremely weak front brake...

Cool, I'll look into that. The adjustment screw that changes the position of the caliper arm was set so that I had a .008 gap between the static pad and the rotor, when I pump the brake back up to full pressure that gap closes and does not reopen.

    Extremely weak front brake...

Thanks for ruling out the rotor man. Lever does feel spongy right now, I've managed to get it fairly firm before now but it only marginally improved the braking power. It's probably spongy right now because I just fitted a new mc and got air into the works again! Can you recommend a good...

    Extremely weak front brake...

Hi guys. I have a 1978 cb750k which despite my best efforts, is refusing to brake effectively (front brake only, rear is great). In my troubleshooting journey I have... Replaced both brake pads with new ones Replaced brake fluid Tested system with a brand-new master-cylinder Bled the system...

Front brake rubbing, but also not stopping well...

I can't thank you enough for all this information. I think you may of been right on the money with the caliper and bleeding being key issues. I managed to get the piston out of the caliper very easily, I gave the inside of the caliper and the piston a good clean and noticed that there is some...

Front brake rubbing, but also not stopping well...

Thanks for the continuing advice! I loosened the bleed screw as you suggested and it made little difference to the rubbing, I'm going to try giving the caliper a thorough clean next. Is there an easy method for dismantling the caliper? I've heard that running a compressor into the open bleed can...

Front brake rubbing, but also not stopping well...

Hi Tommycarl, thanks for your reply. I'll try loosening the bleed screw when I get home and see if that narrows things down as you suggested, I'll also check whether the piston is retracting properly while I'm at it. With regards to the lever pressure, it certainly doesn't need pumping to get...

Front brake rubbing, but also not stopping well...

Hi there! I've just bought a bike that has been stood a while, it was hard to wheel around due to rubbing brakes and was not stopping well at all with hard application of the front brakes. I've changed the brake pads out and bled the system about 3 times. The piston appears to be moving freely...
