Thank you for the quick response. When you say "drop back slightly more on the mixture screw" do you mean turn it in more or turn it out more from the 3 turns out I originally had? Thanks again.

If AMC49 is out there, per your suggestion, I broke broke carbs apart and went through them again using MacGregor instructions. The carbs are clean and all orifices open. I bypassed the air cuts as recommended. Put all back together. New dr8ea plugs (could not get dr8es). Pilot screw 3 turns out...

Thanks for the advice. You have been very helpful in the past. One other thing popped up today. Number 3 cylinder quit firing at all rpms. I suspect fouled plug, ran out of time, will check plug tomorrow. Plan to pull the carbs anyway and break the rack to do thorough cleaning.

    1982 CB900F, Request advice

Been working on 1982 CB900F project for few months. Bike was running poorly when purchased, 13k miles. Removed carbs, they looked in good shape but cleaned passages, replaced acceleration pump, gaskets etc. Cleaned but kept stock jet sizes. Did not break carb apart, so did not check air cutoff...

    1982 Honda CB750sc

On my 1982 CB750SC Nighthawk, the left front fork has an adjustment screw at the bottom, and no apparent fork oil drain screw (just one on the right fork). None of the manuals I can find show this config. Any idea what this adjuster is and how do you drain the left fork? Thanks.

    Clutch Knocking

Just purchased a 1982 CB750SC, 26k miles. Making my punch list of items that need addressing. Bike idles rough but runs strong. Valve clear check 1st on my list. I did notice that at idle, there is a knocking sound coming from the engine that is reduced when I pull in the clutch or when engine...

Ain't that the truth! I get different readings with each cycle. I am using the indent on the right side front cam as shown in the Clymer manual to position cam at 12, 3, 6, and 9 oclock to check valves although the cam with the indent is supposed to be only 80 and 81 models (mine is an 82)...

Understand. I assume you are referring to the cb750sc. I think I read your previous post concerning setting valves at .005 inches. Is that your recommendation on the 900 as well? I have gone thru about $60 in shims just trying to get them to stay in spec. Cam looks good, supposedly 20k...

Hi all, Just a quick note after registering. Great forum, learned a lot. I am now retired and needed some winter projects. Picked up a 1982 cb900f a few months ago that has turned into a challenge (carbs and valves). Just recently picked up a 1982 CB750SC. Runs good, 24k miles but needs...
