ok, i have HAD IT. i got this thing thumping with starting fluid but it won't stay running despite my best efforts. i've had two old yammys and got them running very strong but now have two old hondas and both are pissing me right off. so, in the immortal words of Roberto Duran, "no mas, no...
well yes, i could put it back together without the bowls but what i decided to do is to add gas to the carbs on my bench and then unscrew the drains and measure how much gas comes from each bowl. i had to stop because i ran out of light. will resume in the morning. this test will also...
ok, i cleaned the carbs and i am able to get it running on starting fluid so i thought the hardest part was behind me. it will run but only on starting fluid even though i installed and filed the tank and gas is flowing to the carbs. i'm figuring that even if there is a vacuum leak, it...
i used a clear i got from Genteel Coatings called "Opulence" and added a bunch of gold pearl i got on ebay. i then added just a tad of xirallic black and blasted away.
i repainted this thing yesterday because i wasn't satisfied with it. it has a Xirallic black undercoat with a clear/zirallic black, gold pearl mix top coat. it came out LIKE WET GLASS.
i wanted to paint the tank before i filled it with gas and it wasn't very hard. also, i decided to paint the tank after i knew that the bike would run.
ok, thanks i'll check out those links.... i've cleaned and rejetted a lot of old 4cyl bike carbs over the years. i'm hoping that installing the tank and fuel line will keep the bike running at least long enough to give it some rpm's. the backfire is from squirting starting fluid in the open...
ok, thanks..... part of the problem is that i'm testing without an air filter so they will need even more gas to get perking. i'm going to install the tank later today and see if i can get this creature to keep running. i'm also restoring a brunswick Gold Crown III , a Honda CM450 and a...
is the carb filler hose on the left side of the carbs and that thinner hose on the middle an overflow?
i got the pos thumping but it dies so it's not getting gas despite the fact that i filled up the floats. unfortunately the choke is a real choke and not an enricher......so i'm not sure why...
no, i recently sold my Seca750 and it sounded really nice. so nice in fact a harley guy commented to me how good it sounded and it ran great. i blew off a new big-inch Superglide with it. you just have to know how to properly rejet the carbs.
OK, today i cleaned the carbs on my 81 CB750 that's been sitting for over a decade. i also squirted oil on the cams before trying to get it running. i have not yet reinstalled the gas tank. i just added fuel to the float bowls with a hose and funnel then squired some starting fluid in...
be careful, i blew-up a clutch-pack on a 750 Seca that was rattling. i ignored it and blasted through 2nd gear and BLAM! i thought i destroyed the motor. i walked it back home about two miles and not only was the clutch basket totally destroyed by it put a hole in the outer cover...
