Swing arm bearing kit - 1980CB750K

Found a bearing kit in Canada, can't remember who makes them; will follow up. Kit includes the swingarm centre, two needle bearings and bushings. Apparently fits the 82' 750F and the 900. Three different dealerships couldn't help me, took the boys at the salvage yard about 15 minutes to place...

    Pistons - Sleeves - Valves

Excellent - Great advice thank you - I’ll get into the measuring then! How about the valve assembly etc? I’m assuming it’s something to replace.

    Pistons - Sleeves - Valves

So I have the head, block, and pistons off. Everything looks pretty good, all the sleeves and pistons are smooth, no gouges or abrasion. Questions Is all the carbon buildup on the piston heads and valves a standard "look" for an 85xxxkm engine? Do I replace the sleeves and pistons even...

    Can’t remove head

**Resolved** After a one leg pull with pliers it still didn't budge. A little wedge in between the rubber and the main tensioner mechanism and it "unglued itself".

    Can’t remove head

No worries at all my friend. I don't have a ton of mechanical experience but certainly believe there to be a better way to do this than cutting it.

    Can’t remove head

Yes those are off but the bolts don't "push out". The manual shows the tensioner being in as the head comes off. So I believe it's just the top piece of that tensioner that has to come off. I don't think the entire tensioner assembly can come out.

    Can’t remove head

Sure, that was my first mistake! You can see that the top bracket of the tensioner straddles the head, which is stopping it from coming off. I can't pull it to the side, or pull it off. There must be some trick to separate this top bracket from the tensioner, but I'm stumped as it looks like all...

    Can’t remove head

This is looking from the top down And the other is from the rear of the head Thanks AMC - In the tech doc's it shows that top piece being separated from the tensioner, but in my case it seems to be all one piece. Maybe I'm just not pulling hard enough?! haha Maybe there's some sort of...

    Can’t remove head

1980cb k - I’m removing the head but the cam chain tensioner has a mounting bracket secured to the top of it, which is the only thing stopping the head from coming off. The mounting bracket is secured to the tensioner and I see no option but to cut the mount as I will be replacing the tensioner...

What should I replace at 85xxxkm

Wow, I guess I have my work cut out for me then. A little nervous, but excited to get to it.

What should I replace at 85xxxkm

So we’re talking a full overhaul then. They were probably not set at all. It didn’t run too well when I drove it home from the previous owner, but I made it safe and sound none the less. Thank you

What should I replace at 85xxxkm

Bought a CB at 85xxxkm - everything was caked in oil, a few questionable ‘repairs’ here and there. I’m going to assume that this bike hasn’t been maintained very well, but has been ridden and kept out of the weather for the most part. My goal is to chop and bob with a next to new engine and...

Swing arm bearing kit - 1980CB750K

Hi there, Having difficulty on the interwebs finding a bearing kit for the swing arm on my 80' 750K. For both the strut bearings and main shaft bearings and bushings. I would like to rebuild it, as this CB has 85xxxkm on it. If anyone knows of a good spot to find them, any help would be much...
